TW, CW: Self Harm

A girl meets a boy every night. The girl would be reading or laying down on her bed and she would see the boy come in through the window to visit. The boy always does this. Especially at night. Especially when she's alone and upset. He's always there.

"Hey" the boy greeted.

"Hey" the girl greeted back softly.

The girl moved a bit to the side for the boy to come to sit.

"What are you feeling right now?" The boy asked as he leaned close to the girl as he seated next to her.

"Upset." The girl placed her head on his shoulder. "...and disappointed in myself." She sighed softly.

"Why?" The boy whispered as he intertwined their fingers.

"I didn't do my best. I didn't put in enough effort. I should've put in enough effort. I should've done my best. I should have known that it would affect my grades. I should have known..." The girl muttered the last sentence as a tear fell and landed on their intertwined hands. She quickly wiped her face.

"I really fucked up. " the girl said.

Silence filled the room and only their breathing could be heard. Everything and everywhere is quiet. It was the middle of the night. Everyone was asleep. Then the sound of rustling clothes could be heard and the boy raised his arm to wrap them around the girl and brought her on his chest and near his neck. The boy's scent was soft and always brought comfort to the girl.

"Yeah, you sucked. Yeah, you fucked up. Yeah, you half-assed it. Yeah, you didn't put in any effort but that doesn't mean it's the end of the world. You have more opportunities ahead of you. You have more opportunities to do better. The only important thing is to come back up and try again, fight again like you always have.

"I could never get tired of you. You're the reason that I exist, love"

"That's so cheesy" the girl exclaimed. Her cheeks grew hot and buried her face even deeper into his neck.

"I'm so thankful that I have you."

Thankful. The girl has always been thankful for everything the boy did for her. For the boy has always been understanding of her. Always treating her kindly. Making her happy and comforting her. The boy was always there to support her. The boy loved everything about her. He saw beauty and love in the parts about the girl whom she hated. The girl was the boy's world and truly the reason he existed. If he was told to do something, if the girl wanted something from him, he would do it and he would give it and he wouldn't even hesitate.

He was there in the girl's ups and downs. Offering support, advice, and comfort. The boy helped the girl in ways more than one. He made her feel loved when she forgot how it felt. He made her feel the warmth on the days it was cold. He reassured her when she was feeling doubtful. He calmed her when she was feeling angry and anxious. He accompanied her when she was feeling alone. He listened to her thoughts and rambles no matter how long it can get. He accepted and embraced her no matter how weird she can be. He was proud of her and the achievements that she made no matter how small it was. He made her feel beautiful, seen, and appreciated. He never once left her side. No matter how destructive she could get.

He never left her when she stayed up all night just for no reason at all. He never left when she had heavy eye bags under her eyes. He never left when she barely ate the entire day. He never left when she hadn't showered for days. He never left when all she did was sleep. He never left when she never left her room. He never left when her room was never cleaned. He never left when she ignored and barely acknowledged him. He never left when she didn't say anything. He never left when she treated him as no one. He never left when she hurt him physically and emotionally. He never left when she broke down and cried. He never left when she trembled in fear. He never left when she ran and grabbed a sharp blade and brought it near her wrist as punishment. He never left when blood was dripping rapidly down to her thighs from her arm. He never left when she was laughing and sobbing manically from the pain that made her feel alive. He never left when her Mother came and quickly brought her to the hospital. He never left when she fainted due to blood loss and exhaustion.
