The last few days of school holidays had been a mass of tears and daily lessons, taught my my snobbish best friend. My thoughts wandered every time as all she talked about was her and her dumb boyfriend, Drake.
"And Drake and I always sit at the back because the guy in the front smells like cabbage and rotting cheese. However, you sit beside me. Everyone looks up to Drake because he is the House Captain of our house, Helena. You are in Blaise."
I shook that out of my head as I readied myself for the first day of school, fear crept up on me, I felt cold, alone. Grace would only care about Drake, surely. I was second best.

I walked through the school gates, alone, smaller kids saw me and scurried away as if I was going to hurt them. I was frightened.
"Hey, Sarah!" A boy came up beside me and planted a small kiss on my cheek.
"EW! WHO ARE YOU! GET OFF ME!" The boy stood in front of me, dumbfounded, wondering what was wrong with me. I ran away, twisting through the halls, running to a place I didn't even know. I stopped to catch my breath when I heard footsteps, footsteps that were fast, footsteps that were running, running after me. I saw a bathroom sign, and in a rush, I dashed towards it. As soon as I entered the room, a stench of urine and gas filled my nostrils. I leant against the far wall, facing the door. I looked at the sign, it was unusual, a picture of a cute manga man was painted on a shiny gold background. A man. A man! I looked around and I took it all in. Urinals stretch over one wall, and on the other, cubicles with smashed down doors and half broken toilet seats, leaving no room for even one vanity. I froze. Graffiti covered almost everything. I didn't know what to do. Toilet paper was unravelled, making a maze of tissue on the floor. I was stuck.
