Reign's POV
'It come like happiness neva inna the package fimi.... a dis one ting backa di adda fimi! Mi mussa shit inna church yard'
"God yuh see and know seh mi a try, so a wa dis now man!" I looked to the sky while doing my version of a prayer.
I just couldn't understand why my life had to be so hard.
'A man see the riches and think everything criss ... a pity dem nuh know the price of it all.'
Money is the most contradicting thing ever. It makes your life better in one sense and within the blink of an eye, it makes one's life a living horror movie.
I didn't ask to be born in this and instead of scurrying down the path of my father, I chose to work hard and build a legacy of my own, one that 'No police cyaan hall an pull mi fa!' But, how far can one escape the past sins of the bloodline?
'Mi Pa, Uncle and now mi long la'as fucking Cousin?'
"Mama P nuh cut out fi dem life deh!" I shouted, using my hands to sweep everything off the desk unto the floor. "Fuckkk!"
Casidy came running in looking concerned. Her eyes widened with shock and the tears stained her cheeks.
"Come ere..." I pushed back the chair from around the desk, leaving enough space for her to join me on my lap.
She cried the whole time after leaving the police station. We didn't even change or anything. She was still in her dress, and I, in my suit.
She sat in my lap and her eyes glossed in tears.
"Wa wi go do Reign? Mummy..."
"Shhhhhh...." I held her chin and concealed her lips with my finger. "Mi no know how mi go dweet Casidy, but mi promise yuh, mi affi fix dis..."
She cried even more. I held her so tight while thinking of a way forward.
Casidy's POV
Talk about tragedy, this was way beyond!
My own mother was there in some musty cell, forced to face all sorts of danger, paying the penalty for a crime I committed.
'Poor mummy!'
How were we gonna handle this?
My mind rewinded to earlier today.
**** 2 hours before the wedding****
"Reign stop nuh!" I giggled, trying to push him off me. He had invaded the dressing room begging for a kiss and 'whatever it would lead to.' I was in a fluffy white Robe about to get my make up on, which should've started 15 minutes ago, but this man was full of antics. "Yuh no know seh a bad luck fi see di bride before the wedding!"
He still insisted on taking the kiss.
"Just one likkle chups and mi gone.... mi promise!"
"The rain already set up fi fall and yuh ago add more bad luck pon it! My gosh man!"
"Cho, yaa one a dem wid di superstitious foolinish!" He hissed his teeth and shook his head.
We were up against the wall with his chest against mine and his knee pressed against my lady parts. His eyes pierced into mine and for a moment I was lost in love.
He snatched my lips while caressing my breast. And If it wasn't for that loud bang on the door, then the 'whatever it would lead to' part would've surely played out.
"Unu betta tek it out and open up di door! Unu no see di time?" Kelly shouted. "Tina out ya a wait how long fi start and unu two horny goat in deh a rub front!"
