Five Months Later —

The cool, crisp wind of the summer season lingers on my skin, as an easy smile graces my lips. The taste of my French Vanilla Latte bursts on my tongue as I take a greedy sip from my insulated cup.

Pulling up to the Tiny Tots Daycare in my Nissan Altima. I throw the door open, and step out into the soothing, chill wind.

The sounds of laughing children fill my ear as I enter the building and I can't fight the smile that breaks out on my face at the sight of chaos before me.

The children were running around playing in the Daycare happily, with the workers closeby supervising.

Smiling from ear to ear, I walk up to Pamela, one of the caretakers for the children they looked after while parents went to work.

"Alice! You're here?" She greets with a wide smile. "Yes, I'm here to pick him up." I mutter nodding to the back of the building.

Pamela smiles and tilts her head in understanding before disappearing to the back of the room.

It had been five months since I packed up and moved from Jacksonville with my son. I had sold my old house, and bought a smaller one all the way in Florida, where I was far from the memories of the weight of everything that had happened to me.

Packing up and leaving Jacksonville was the best decision I had ever made. It was the new start that Matthew and I needed, and we both were doing well.

Charlotte's husband had finally come home from deployment, and was spending an astronomical amount of time with his family.

My situation with John had improved despite the fact that we still argued every now again. He had moved to Florida to be closer to his son, but I always suspected there was more to his decision to do so.

Because I was curious, as any woman would be — I asked him about the pregnant woman I had saw him with that day in the store.

He went on to explain to me that she wasn't pregnant for him, and that he had taken her shopping at the request of his younger brother Xavier, who was the possible father of the child.

Matthew, my precious boy had been impacted the most by the sudden move. One day he was sad, and refused to talk, and closed off his emotions for week, and I knew deep down it had something to do with Maxwell's disappearance.

However, after about three months in Florida, and regularly attending daycare with other children his age — he was speaking fluently, and as active as ever.

My son was happy, and thats all that mattered to me.

"Mommy!" And I hear his loud, piercing voice before I see him. He lashes unto my legs with a wide smile on his face. His eyes were twinkling, and his teeth were on full display as he hugs unto me.

"Hi my baby, what did you do today?" I ask, wiping sweat from his brow with my handkerchief.

"I ate all my Welch snacks! And I played in the sand box for hours, and climb on the money bars! And swang on the swing! And Emily kissed me on the cheek!"
