Verse 1:
The streets of New York are filled with grime,
The air reeks of poverty and crime.
The buildings are crumbling and the people are poor,
The future for them is looking pretty sure.

Verse 2:
The sky is grey and the sky is dark,
The only thing that's lit is the spark.
Of hope that lingers in the air,
But it's hard to find because of all the despair.

Verse 3:
The children play in the street,
But they don't know what life could be.
They don't know what it's like to be free,
They just know what it's like to be in poverty.

Verse 4:
The adults are struggling to make ends meet,
And all they can do is just try to compete.
The days are long and the nights are cold,
And all they can do is try to hold on.

Verse 5:
The people are desperate and the city is in despair,
But they still have hope that things will get better one day.
They keep on fighting and never give up,
Because they know that one day their dreams will come true.
