“Guin!”
I sighed and removed my glasses. Medyo sumakit na rin ang likod ko dahil kanina pa ko nakaupo.
I looked at my door and there, I saw Janelle catching her breath.
“Have you seen the latest post of psicom?” She asked pertaining to the book publishing company that I am working with as a writer.
“Not yet.” I replied.
Her forehead knotted. “Go, see it. Also, check your email. ” She sat on my bed.
Ngumiwi ako. I still have a lot to do. I need to finish the outline for my upcoming series.
Tumayo ako at naglakad papunta sa kusina. Ramdam ko ang pagsunod niya sa likuran ko.
“I still have a lot to do, Janelle. Just tell me what is it. ” I told her as I fill the cup with water.
“Okay, fine. ” She surrendered and sat.
“Huwag ka magugulat ah. ”
I nodded as a response.
“You're one of the writers who'll attend the upcoming book signing event. ” She uttered.
I nodded. “Okay- what?! Are you kidding me?! ” I histerically said.
I ran inside my room and picked up my phone.
Greetings to our fellow book lovers!
In behalf of the psicom publishing company we are delighted to let you know about this coming book signing event held at SM Megamall this November 25. Together with our beloved authors. . .I bit my lower lip and tried to find my pen name.
. . . Pen_Guin . . .
My lips parted. Is this for real?
I doubled check my email to be sure. Psicom also sent me an email!
“Janelle, oh my gosh. ”
She laughed at my reaction. “What?”
I bit my lower lip. I still can't believe it. My book was just published 2 months ago, and to my surprise it didn't flopped. This is a huge milestone for me.
HANGGANG NGAYON AY hindi parin ako makapaniwala. I also read some comments and found some of my supporters.
Janelle went home already. Ngayon ay magisa ako sa bahay, Mom and Dad aren't home yet.
“Hello Mom?” I picked up the call.
“Hi Athena. . . how was your day? ” Mom asked.
My face beamed out of exitement to tell them the great news. But then I stopped myself from telling them. Not yet, I want to tell them personally.
“I have a great news, Mom.” I grinned.
I heard her chuckle. “What is it? ”
I bit my lower lip. “I'll tell you once you got home. ”
Ilang segundo silang natahimik.
“Mom?”
I heard her sighed. “I'm sorry, swettie. But I wont go home tonight. ”
Nawala ang ngiti ko. “What? Why? ”
“I'll explain it to you tomorrow. ” She seems bothered.
I sighed. Wala naman na kong magagawa pa. I can't force her to go home. Maybe there's something important she needs to do.
“Okay. . . but where are you staying for tonight? ” I asked.
Narinig ko ang pagbukas ng pinto mula sa kabilang linya.
