I sat on the single couch while my parents sat opposite to me.

My mom had this worried look on her face whiles my dad had this hurt look.

"Sweety,I am so sorry for not telling you the truth about your mom earlier on. But you should understand that I was protecting you. I love you so much and I knew how you loved your mom and I didn't want to ruin that " he says

"Hayley...call her Hayley " I say and dad sighs

" Regardless she is still your mother. Okay...ermmm..so.. everything started in college, your mom was a freshmen and I was a sophomore. She was in the same department as me and we used to be study partners. Your mom always had this aura around her that made her attractive " my dad say with a smile, like he was reminiscing his youthful years.

Mom shifted awkwardly in the couch. I would feel the same if the man I love is talking about his past lover that way.

"So I asked her out and she gladly accepted it. Your mom's family wasn't well off,so she had to work shifts at a cafe nearby the campus to support herself. We went out a few times and we started dating,we dated for 2 years until my senior year,a week before my graduation, I had a revelation about her that made me so hurt. I was so in love with her that I wanted to kill her after finding out about it" he says

"I found out she was having sexual relationship with our Psychology teach,mind you I had changed my major,so we didn't study together like we used,I was also helping her with her music career. So she found out was pregnant and the baby was not mine. I was so hurt and broke things off with her immediately,she begged for forgiveness but I didn't forgive her. She kept the baby,and I left the country after my graduation. I heard from my brother who was in the same year as her that,our Psychology teacher had demanded full custody of the baby after she was born_" he says and I cut him off.

"Yes. I came back from Russia after training and ready to take over my dad's company.A month after I came back,I received a message from her wanting to see me. I needed closure so I went,we met at the place we had our first date. When I saw her,the love that I thought was gone came back rushing in my heart. She looked more mature and beautiful,she asked for a second chance and after many persuasion I gave in but we took things slow. Six months later,she got pregnant and I didn't want my child to be born out of wedlock,so I proposed and we got married. She wanted the big American marriage and I gave it to her" he smiles

" After you were born,we found out,our Psychology teach and his wife had passed away in a horrific car crush but luckily the child survived. Your mom and I decided to adopt her,she came to live with us for while,she was so beautiful,she looked just like your mom,very confident,bubbly and she loved you so much. You don't remember her because you were just a baby" he explains further

"So what happened to her" I asked curiously

"When she turned seven, her father's mom came for her, he dad listed her as the rightful guardian, we had no say and your mom was willing to cut ties off with her because her music career had just started to kick off and she wouldn't have that much time for two kids. So out of generosity,I decided to give her a monthly allowance until she didn't want it anymore. The last time we hard from them they had moved to Ireland but her account is still active.By now she would be married with kids of her own" he shrugs

"So yeah,we had you, my little joy and happiness,my sunshine,your mom and I loved you so much. On your 3rd birthday everything started to change, your mom started to change,she begun to tour around the world and the rumors started. Even before that the staff had started telling me how she would bring men home but I didn't want to believe it, until I saw it with my own eyes, I went to her studio one day to surprise her but I was surprised rather. My wife, the woman I loved blindly was being fucked by her manager on the studio floor. I knew she was cheating but I was still surprised. I left the place immediately and came back home but immediately I saw you my anger melted away,and when you brought me the cookie and milk I was a bit okay. You were so young ,so I asked her to stay with you for a little while before she lives and she agreed. Within that time she was pregnant! Fucking pregnant with her fucking manager! She was afraid it would destroy her career so she begged me to let her stay until she gave birth ",he tells and I get more confused

"But... I don't remember mom having a child ",I say trying to wrap everything around.

"Yes because, she was always wearing baggy clothes and she wouldn't allow you touch her tummy. For her own good,she opted for home birth and I allowed her. You were with your grandma at the time. Two days after she gave birth,the father came for him and they moved to God knows where, she was now ready to leave and get on with her life. The day you returned from summer break,she was leaving. A few hours after she left,I had a call that she had been to an accident. I immediately rushed to St. Andrews hospital but she was already dead. She died on the spot,I later found out that the other driver had been arrested and that he was sent. It wasn't an accident at all but an assassination. Turns out her manager's wife was the daughter of a Sicilian mob boss and they had fled the country back to Italy " he finishes with a sigh.
