The Board

    I was just hanging there, holding onto the broken rope as she was cutting it. If it breaks I don't know how far I will fall. I'm scared to death.          It was a warm humid summer night and Kiki's blonde hair was sticking to the back of her neck. She had been planning a party with her best friends Lily and Ayla. The three of them were like a bouquet of wild flowers. Kiki was short with blonde hair, blue eyes and a crazy personality, Lily was a redhead with hazel eyes who was very shy and Ayla was a tall brunette with green eyes that made sure they thought of everything. With the three of them planning this party it was going to be a night they would never forget. The party was going to be at the acreage Kiki's family bought 15 years ago, on the rooftop deck of the old barn. It was later in the evening and the girls were finishing up the decorations. Kiki had the job of hanging the decorations on the side of the barn and tied an old rope and her waist so she wouldn't fall and to hang onto. Once she was done she took the rope off and set it on the ledge.         Once they were done they decided to sit down and play a board game while they waited for their guests to arrive. In the house Kiki was going to grab Monopoly when out of the corner of her eye she spotted a Ouija board. That would be a lot more fun she thought. She ran back to the rooftop and together they set-up the Ouija board.          When the girls were younger they were always afraid to play in the old barn because they always thought they heard a girl whimpering. The all put their hands on the planchette and asked "Who are you?" The board spelled out E – L – V – I – R – A. This really freaked the girls out. Then they asked "What are you doing here?" The board then spelled out W – A – I – T – I – N – G. Just at that moment they all felt a chill in the air and then all of the sudden they thought saw someone running from the back of the barn. The vase on the table behind them crashed to the ground and they jumped up screaming and picked up all the pieces to the board and put it away wishing they had never done that.        The weird chill that was in the air never left and it looked like all their friends noticed it too because no one stayed long and before you knew it only the girls were left. As they were cleaning up Lily noticed the Ouija board was back on the table. They were huddled around the board and they couldn't stop themselves from putting their hands back on the planchette. It spelled out I – – W – A – S – – M – U – R – D – E – R – E – D. The girls didn't know what to do next. Even though Lily thought it was a bad idea they asked what happened. The Ouija board spelled out A – S – K – – A – S – H. The girls didn't know what this meant and were getting really scared.      As they were talking about what to do big storm clouds appeared in the sky. The wind started blowing and the Ouija board flew right off the roof. The girls didn't need to see any more, they ran to Lily's car and drove back to her house in town.      The next day they decided to go to the police. It turned out that Elvira and Ash, a girl she thought was her friend were planning a party on the same roof 20 years ago when Ash cut the rope that Elvira was using to hold her up when she was hanging decorations. It was because she was jealous that Elvira was dating the boy she liked.      That day the girls made a pact to never date someone the other girl liked.
