By the morning, Faith was woke before Xavier which was new. Normally she was woken up sweetly and a beautiful breakfast was waiting for her in bed or on the kitchen counter along with a fresh kiss from her boyfriend.
Today was different because she didn't get the chance to sleep peacefully and wake up to her boyfriend's loving delicious lips. She didn't get the chance to soak in a hot bath and listen to meditation music or watch comical scenes from her favorite TV show.
Instead, she woke up to cramps. She woke up bothered with her cycle to soak in the tub and instead unfortunately chose the shower route.
Then she stood up for an hour making waffles, hash browns, and eggs for her and Xavier along with his personal protein smoothie for the day. Today just didn't start well for her especially when all she could think about was how mad she was at him.
She had to wait for him to wake up, and then wait for him to shower and she was sitting at the counter when he walked in drying his hair with a towel. He halted his footsteps when he saw her. Then he swallowed.
Not because her arms were crossed and because he knew she was mad but because he smelled breakfast. Fresh cooked and delicious breakfast. He was now acutely aware of his mistakes. For one, she did everything he normally did when he woke up, which meant he made her morning unexpected and a bother and he never wanted that.
Never wanted her to worry herself about cooking breakfast for them both, about doing their morning cleaning, about waking up not to her good boyfriend doing everything so she didn't have to.
Maybe she didn't care if she had to. She wasn't disabled or lazy but it was the simple thought that he didn't take care of her as he promised.
That was just the whipped cream, the cherry on top being everything that happened last night. His pounding headache because of the bright sun shining through their curtains was a prominent reminder.
Worst thing about it? He didn't remember getting home last night.
Huffing, he tossed the towel into the basket.
"Baby... " He began to walk for her but she held up her hand to the invisible barrier between it and his chest."Sit down and eat"
"Babe I know I -" She walked around him again demanding him to eat as she slammed their door shut behind her.
There he was, standing in the center of their kitchen with a stupid look sprawled across his face.
Xavier didn't take his time eating, and she knew he wouldn't so when he walked through their door in under ten minutes, she dropped her phone to stare and wait for him to apologize. "Baby, I'm sorry. I am"
His low whisper begged her as he shut the door and neared the end of the bed where she sat at the top.
"Do you even know what you're apologizing for?"Sitting down, shamefully, he nodded. He remembered the bar, remembered the arcade, remembered looking at his phone to see a call from Faith, to see the time. Still, he didn't care. "I'm sorry for staying out so late and not telling you. For not answering your texts and your calls. For waking you up out of your sleep and coming home drunk. I apologize for all of it."
His apologetic eyes gazed into hers in hopes she forgave him. If she didn't, he would do everything to make it up to her. He was wrong and he should've been more responsible.
Crawling up the bed, he hovered her body, his arms outstretched on either side of her head as he whispered, "I won't do it again. I promise"
He leaned in to kiss her for the first time this morning but she turned her head hearing his huff. "It was inconsiderate of you, especially knowing right now. And I know you were just drunk and horny but I was hurting and I wasn't in the mood"
