Celaena was awoken by a loud thud just outside her door. She shot up and leapt from her bed. Making sure to stay absolutely silent she crept to the corner of the room, by the door, which could not be seen from the doorway and with a soft hiss pulled her daggers from their sheaths. She turned them over in her hands and dropped back onto her haunches, like a cat, ready to pounce.
The door slowly opened and a lamp-light illuminated the room though thanks to the shadow of the now wide open door Celaena remained concealed. The figure was just a little smaller than Celaena herself, with short auburn hair and chestnut brown eyes. The lamp illuminated their face and showed a fearful expression as they hesitantly stepped further into the room.
The floorboards creaked as the figure moved over to the bed and pulled the blanket back to reveal nothing but air. Celaena flipped her first blade upright in her hand and was glad of the familiar comfort it brought her. She rose from her crouch and silently walked up behind the figure. She held one knife to his right temple and positioned another to the left side of his kneck poised to slice his jugular vein open.
"You have five seconds to tell me what you're doing in here or i will slice your neck open and leave you here to bleed until your sorry little life is over." Celaena whispered a hairs breadth from the intruders ear.
The Mans face drained of colour and his entire body went rigid. After a second of silence celaena pressed the blade closer to his neck to show that her threat was not empty.
"W... We were ordered to search all ships for some rebel leader trying to sneak into rifthold." He stuttered nervously.
Celaena considered this for a second. It meant the king knew she was alive and that she would try to infiltrate the glass castle. Although she was still unsure of whether he knew her identity. She would have to risk being detected to find out if the king knew who she really was.
"You are going to go back and say this room was empty. Because if you say one word about me. I will come for you, believe me and i will snap your neck in two before you even know i'm there." Celaena snarled at the trembling figure as she removed her knives from his forehead and neck. she flashed him a feral grin, bared her teeth and let out a low guttural growl. His face twisted in pain and he let out a strangled yelp as she struck him in the temple with the handle of her knife. His body went limp and crumpled to the floor.
Celaena quickly gathered the rest of her weapons from the loose board and concealed them in the folds of her leather and fur armour. She kept her knives in her hands and took a last look at her reflection. Tucking the escaped strands of golden hair back under her hood she adjusted her mask and slipped into the now deserted hallway exstinguishing the lantern as she went.
