So apparently, there’s this guy on Facebook. Everybody at my school is talking about him. His Facebook name is John Doe. Stupid right? That’s what I thought a week ago. It all started about three weeks ago; on February 1st. Apparently everyone who had a Facebook from my school-yes, even the teachers, got a message from John Doe. Everyone got the same exact message, at the same exact time. It read “Hi. Are you friendly?” I didn’t think too much of it, unlike most people in my school. There was an uproar; even the teachers were in shock. That wasn’t the end of John Doe; it was also the beginning of a nightmare. February 5th, Sarah Denski- a senior and a acquaintance of mine, had gone missing. There was gossip going around that that John Doe guy had took Sarah. Kids, from all classes were talking about Sarah. One of the kids from Sarah’s class-Jenny Shanmore had said she had proof that Sarah got kidnapped by John doe. She showed everyone, including me, her text conversation with Sarah the same day she had gone missing. The conversation was about John doe…

Sarah: lol im talking to that john doe guy :p

Jenny: really? Lol wht he sed?

Sarah: lol he asked me if I want to play a game :p

Jenny: Wat are u gonna say? B carful.. 4 all we no he mite be a psycho : /

With that, their conversation had stopped. “Whatever!” a guy said walking away from the clump of people who were reading the text conversation with me. “ That’s a whole lot of bullshit! “ Everyone glared at him. “You’re a jerk Ryan! Sarah’s missing, and that’s all you have to say?” Jenny barked. Ryan pulled out his phone. “Pshhhhhhhh… whatever. It probably wasn’t that John Doe nerd, I heard one of the Juniors made up that profile to scare you girls.” Ryan said, nibbling on his phone. “Shut up !” Jenny screamed, storming out the room. Ryan giggled, he started typing something on his phone. “What are you doing? Shouldn’t be apologizing to Jenny right about now?” I said, glaring at him. He ignores me. “Listen up everyone! To clear up all of this bullshit, why don’t I talk to that John Nerd? How does that sound?” Ryan yells all cocky like, grabbing everyone’s attention. “Yeah! Do it!” Everyone said. Ryan starts typing. I’m scared. He stops typing and grins, he shows everyone his phone screen, it shows his and John Doe’s Conversation list. “ How does this sound?” Ryan says. He begins to read what he wrote. “So Dork, what’s your name? Do you know Sarah Denski? I was surprised, Ryan looked a bit worried. Maybe it was just my imagination at the time, but he looked…scared. He picked up his phone, and began to read the message. He gulped, then took a deep breath and began to read the message. “ Sarah is my Friend. Are you my friend? Would you like to play a game? Lets play a game.” Ryan said, all studdery. The cafeteria area where we were in had gone absolutely silent. “Ryan…” a girl said in the crowd. “What have you done?” “Ryan’s gonna die! Everyone! Ryan’s gonna die!” another person in the crowd screamed. “Shut the fuck up!” Ryan looked scared. Ryan was scared. Everyone took a step back from Ryan acting as if he’d been diagnosed with a deadly contagious disease; I also took a step back. Ryan ran off. Lunch ended. But the gossip about John Doe didn’t. What happened at lunch spread like wildfire. On that same day, The school board decided that all students are banned from facebook, and that anyone found using facebook would be suspended. Everyone was scared shitless, they didn’t need the school board to tell them to not use Facebook anymore. The school even dedicated two periods for students to shut down their Facebook accounts, including teachers. By the end of the day, almost every student and teacher at BrillRoock Academy had deactivated their account..
