I had never been a particular fan of Oxfords weather, but today I had for some reason, woken with a burst of energy and not even the damp air could ruin my mood. Walking across the Oxford campus I looked down at my phone to check what time I had promised to meet Diana and to my luck it was in ten minutes. Thinking it over in my head I knew I'd be able to get to the library in ten minutes but at the same time I didn't know if she would be ready to leave. Knowing Diana, which I do, she could take hours just analysing one page of a book.
I finally reached the Bodleian and was ready to go and find Diana and my search didn't last long as I found her outside of the library seemingly looking at nothing. I was becoming worried, it seemed like she was frustrated for some reason. As soon as I made it to her side I reached my hands out and placed them on her shoulders hoping to shake some sense into her.
"Di, Diana?" I shouted hoping it would do something to help and to my luck it did. "What- Thea, why are you here?" I took a sigh of relief realising my friend was finally back to her senses. "Oh thank God Di, you had me worried for a second there. Anyway we were going to get a coffee remember, you called yesterday." I pulled my phone opening up my calendar. "You had me put it in my calendar."
Diana took a second or two looking at my phone screen trying to jog her memory. "Right the coffee, I'm sorry. My studies there just, well there something." I gave a slight chuckle trying to give a sense of calm to the growing awkwardness that was slowly creeping in. "Well since your back in the land of the logically sound perhaps we could go and actually get that coffee." She nodded and we were both off to one of the many coffee shops in Oxford.
We made it to the cafe and I deiced to go and order as Diana finished writing her findings. Once I payed I made back over to our table and placed down Di's coffee and my tea. What can I say I'm British. "So how's the research going, you get everything you need?" She turned her head from the laptop looking at me with a strange smile. "Yeah, I should be able to finish my notes for the paper I need to submit." I gave her a smile and started sipping at my tea.
The silence between the two of us was practically deafening and I couldn't control my lips at this point. "Are you sure your alright. You just seemed, flustered when I found you at the Bodleian." She spoke again with the same smile. "Yeah I'm fine. I just really want to get this finished, that's all." Nothing more was said after that. Once we both finished our drinks we took a walk until Dina found her way back to her rooms and I found my way back to my apartment.
....
I woke up on Monday hoping Diana would be feeling better now that I had given her the weekend to relax. So getting dressed I threw on a pair of grey jeans, a navy blue shirt and my leather jacket. I grabbed my phone hoping to see a text from Di detailing when we could next meet up but found nothing, grabbing my keys and headphones I decided to make my way to work.
Thanks to the long walk I arrived later than I probably should have but I knew it wasn't the be all or end all, so with my headphones blasting 'Hall of fame' I made my way into the lab.
Opening the door I threw my keys on the table and shouted to let everyone now I was here. "Guy's, sorry I'm late, the walk took longer than usual." It was only when I took my headphones off that I realised the lab was silent, but that wasn't due to the lack of people, it seemed we had a guest. "Matthew, what- why's Diana here?" Judging from Diana's open mouth I guess she was shocked to see me and the feeling was mutual. "What am I doing here. Thea why are you here?"
"I work here." I said confusion occupying my tone. "So back to my question why are you here?" She seemed to be in a dumbfounded sate as she finally answered. "I was hoping Matthew could test my blood." Ok now I was even more confused. Placing my headphones next to my keys I walked over and sat beside Diana and Matthew. "Why do you need your blood testing, is everything alright?"
She seemed to be considering something, but it wasn't Diana who answered. "Anthea, Diana was hoping to learn more of her lineage and I offered our help." I starred blankly at Matthew. "Her lineage, but why would-" Before I could continue Dina asked me the weirdest question. "Thea do you believe in magic?"

I hope the first chapter was alright. Comment down bellow if any of you were surprised that Anthea was going to be working with Matthew. I am open to constructive criticism were necessary.
