You walked outside of your room and went straight ahead to the end of the hall to the jewel room, which you unlocked with a key fron your stacked necklaces and since your dear old mother was so particular about her riches, only you and her had keys and you had to make sure nobody was following you and to not let anyone in.

You walked in to the room and picked up your crown, placing it on your head gently, adjusting the crystals on the chain connecting them that lay atop your forehead.

You exit the room making sure nobody has left or gone into the room after you, shutting and locking the oversized doors. You walk to the stairs where the head maid is waiting for you to take you to your mother. She bows and your curtsy back. In silence, the two of you descend the overwhelming amount of stairs and step in to the grand hall.

The head maid leads you down to the doors into the office where your mother gives out her demands, sends letters, give orders, and all her other queenly duties you would one day if your plan worked, which was a bit scary to think about, but you composed yourself. What could your mother want this early anyways? And in private? You hadn't done anything recently that might have angered her. You pondered in silence while the head maid opened the door, bowed to your mother and left quickly with posture straighter than a board. The queen loved her, but you thought she was a bit kooky. Stepping inside the room, you greeted your mom. "Hello, sweetheart. Please, sit." She gestured to the chairs in front of her at her desk, and you took a seat in the one on the left. Queen Mahou breathed a bit louder than normal and started. "So. You're aware of the fact I've arranged a marriage for you by letter, so I'll skip the exposition (unlike me 😔) . The letter I sent has gotten a reply! They've said they agreed!" "Uhm..mother? Not to sound crude or anything but..I still don't know who I'm getting married to." "Ah! That's the fun part!" "Fun part? What do you mean by that?" You said in confusion. After a bit-too-long dramatic pause she finally continued. "I don't know either! And neither does our neighboring kingdom!" "Uh..what?!" "Dear, you get to choose! You see, the kingdom has two eligible heirs who are both great candidates for ruler. The problem, neither of them have any overwhelming flaws and so the current king and queen couldn't pick. And that's where you come in! You'll spend four weeks with them in their castle while falling in love with one or the other. See? Fun!" "But that doesn't make any sense! That's not fun either! What if I don't fall in love with either? Or, or something happens?!" You said with great concern. "Well you'll be watched and taken care of, so nothing could happen to you, and if you don't fall in love—I think you know what happens, dear." You rubbed the back of your neck at that last comment. Your mother was harsh, even with you and failing her was not an option. Fake it 'till you make it, as they say. "So! We're done here then! You'll be heading over there in two days from now. I've sent a servant to your room already to pack what you'll need. I'd prepare yourself, and maybe prepare a day bag, since the trip is long." "If you don't mind, one more question before I go."
