—On a Stroll—
AO'NUNG ARRIVED at Neteyam's Marui. He was amused to see the adolescent sitting the straightest he's ever seen with his hands resting on his lap, and his firm eyes staring blankly, perhaps zoned out. Kiri and Lo'ak argued about whatnot, tugging back and forth between a woven basket.
Tuktirey was in her father's embrace, babbling about what would be her so-called destiny one day, Neytiri at their side smiling. Spider was sprawled out on his mat, scrunching his forehead as he attempted to sleep. It was early in the morning and the sun was barely peeking through.
"Always on guard?" Ao'nung teased. Neteyam's eyes dilated, his tail wagging with surprise. Taken aback, the Sullys greeted the new Olo'eyktan, their two fingers against their foreheads, and in unison saying: Oel ngati kameie.
"Why are you here?" Neteyam asked the Olo'eyktan. Ao'nung cocked his head, glaring mischievously, a hand at his hip. He was standing a few feet away, his large frame towering over Neteyam's, like a smug.
"You intrude on my Marui and I don't say anything, but when I do it—you got a problem?" Ao'nung inquired. Neteyam almost hissed, his tail lashing as he rose, coming face with the taller. Lo'ak's ears perked in curiosity, awaiting a quarrel to strike between the two Na'vi—but it wasn't the case.
"You're way too close," Ao'nung sneered.
Neteyam's chin gestured, lime eyes looking behind the Olo'eyktan. "Back up," He said. "You got the initiative."
"Fine," Ao'nung rolled his eyes. Neteyam was always conceited and demanding subtly. He'd make you take orders and you wouldn't know, because something in the boy didn't exclude demand. He wasn't hungry, but rather laidback, something Ao'nung very much admired. Nothing ever slipped past the boy. He was smart, smarter than most.
"What brings you here, Chief Ao'nung?" Toruk Makto asked, re-twisting Tuktirey's hair.
"I came to fetch Neteyam," He replied. Neteyam looked at the boy, his eyes sheen and evocative. He grasped the boy's shoulder and shoved him forth, ignoring his small stumbles.
"I'll see you later, mom," Neteyam bid, and nodded his head towards his father. "Dad," He continued.
His father smiled, nodding his head with approval. "Don't be out late," He said.
Before exiting the Marui, Ao'nung snuck a hand through the juggling pearly rocks Lo'ak had found near the beach just few days ago. Lo'ak was having fun, but his once concentrated stare had turned into a gloomy one as his juggling was disrupted; all rocks fallen into the floor as the shine in his eyes were extinguished. Ao'nung's mocking laugh an echo.
"Did y'all see that?" He asked his parents, his voice a shriek. Jake and Neytiri shrugged as Kiri and Tuktirey almost rolled their eyes.
