Eddie lay in bed that night writing and erasing texts, he was sure a plain 'Hi it's Diaz' would do but it felt awkward. After a half hour he settled on an opening.

Diaz: Hey Saunders, it's Diaz

He groaned after sending it. He wasn't sure what the problem was, she was always one of his brothers beside him, but after seeing her today, not in army green and vulnerable it felt different.

She was obviously too proud to let him in on the fact that she lived at the shelter, and she was pretty jumpy when his hand touched her back. He just wanted her to know that if she needed anything he was there for her.

A few days passed before he got an answer. He was in the middle of washing the truck with Buck when his phone went off.

Saunders: It was good to see you the other night.

He opened the text smiling.

"Well? It's elevator girl isn't it?" Buck asked.

Eddie ignored him and sent her a text back.

Diaz: Yeah, same, I'd like to get together sometime.

"That was your response" Buck criticized over his shoulder. He sighed before turning to face him.

"What's wrong with that?"

"It's like you forgot how to talk to women"

"Yes, because your love life if doing so much better" Eddie replied.

"What love life?" Chimney joked.

"Alright, laugh it up, I have a love life, I just don't parade it around in here" he replied.

"Sure you do" Eddie laughed spraying the truck off.

A call came in seconds later, it kept them out late into the night. Around midnight they headed back to the station. The made their way across the city just as a woman wandered from an alley, shirt torn and blood running down her arm.

"You see that cap"? Chimney asked.

"Yeah, hold on we will check it out" He started slowing down, as a man stepped out of the alley and pulled her back into the darkness.

Buck and Eddie hopped from the truck before it was stopped. Buck used his flashlight and headed down the alley with Eddie close behind him.

A noise above them caught there attention. They saw the last of the man disappear into a window from the fire escape. Eddie walked further down the alley, He could hear Bobby calling in for police units. He was about to turn around when his light caught something reflective through a pallet that was leaned against the wall. He pulled the pallet back off the wall, revealing the woman.

"Hen" Eddie called.

Her face was bloody, hair was stuck in a laceration. Her shirt was torn, pant's unbuttoned. The feeling of anger hit him hard until she opened her eyes and those green eyes met his. The fury he felt was like nothing he ever experienced.

"Diaz, we need to stop meeting like this" she whispered. Hen flashed the light on her neck, bruises were starting to form.

"Saunders, what happened, did he?" Eddie struggled to get the question out.

She shook her head slightly.

"He tried, but it wasn't happening, I would have died first" she spoke so quiet it was surprising he could even hear her. He learned as a medic to zero in on your patient, a lot of times it was so loud he could barely hear anything, let alone the person he was working on.

He looked up at Athena who was leading a man to her car. He stood heading in there direction.

"Eddie, Eddie" Buck called after him.

"Eddie" Cap yelled. Athena turned just in time to move out of the way of the fist that slammed into the face of her perpetrator.

He hit the ground hard not being able to catch himself. Buck slid in between them, as Athena helped the man off the ground and slid him in her car.

"C'mon Eddie" Buck pushed him back slightly.

"I want to press charges" the man in the car yelled. Athena leaned down to look in the door.

"Do you really think that's the best decision?"

"Yeah, he hit me."

Athena sighed pulling hand cuffs out.

"Turn around" She looked at Eddie.

"C'mon Athena, he tried to rape his friend" Buck pleaded.

"Buck, you know I can't pick sides" He nodded stepping to the side. Eddie turned and watched them load her into the ambulance. He felt the cool metal on his wrist's as Athena's voice read him his rights.

"You have the right to remain silent, Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law, you have the right to an attorney, if you cannot afford one one will be provided for you. If you decide to answer questions now without an attorney present, you will still have the right to stop answering at any time until you talk to an attorney."

Athena walked him to a different car before sitting him in the back seat.

She spoke with Bobby before getting in the same car.

"Can you call the house and just tell Carla what's going on?"

"At one in the morning Eddie, probably not. You will be out before they wake up anyway. You can tell her all about it yourself"

"Why do I feel like a kid in trouble right now?"

"You punched a guy that I had in handcuffs, what did you think was going to happen?"

"He tried to rape her Athena"

"I know Eddie, I know she's a friend of yours, but you could've just let me do my job. When have you ever seen me take it lightly on people who commit crimes like that?"

"I Know, I'm sorry. I was just so mad. She fought in Afghanistan with me, was kidnapped. We found her in a hole, she went through hell. Came back, lost her house, lives in the shelter and doesn't deserve this."

"She has no family?" Athena asked.

"Her sister, but she want's nothing to do with her, doesn't appear to have a positive opinion on the military."

"Don't you have an extra room?" Athena asked.

"Yeah, but she wouldn't even tell me where she lived, I found out from her sister"

"I'll stop by and talk to her, after I drop you off for processing" Athena offered.

"Thank you" Eddie replied.

"Don't thank me yet, Your still being arrested"
