Evidently, Xavier Faunder has no idea where the hell he is or exactly how he got there. All that he has been able to grasp is that it's creepy, weird, and apparently nowhere. Literally.
So let's recap what he knows; There is a lake, there isn't many people, it's night, foggy, dark, and the town is run down. He feels so at home in this place, as he had said to himself upon arrival, whining about the madness in his head.
Let's go over what he doesn't know; where he lived, what he was doing before he arrived, where he is, his family, his own home-address and everything- and why he is here. Not that it matters. What does matter is getting out.
I stood there, groggy and confused -the two should never mix- staring at the water. A wooden sign hangs lazily, it's beaten up and falling apart, multiple scribbled out words except two; Collins Lake. It's not much help of my current situation, seeing as I have never heard of 'Collins Lake' before in my life. This all just feels off, like a dance with steps only a little uneven, only enough to feel- not to see. I am in some random place, no idea where, and I woke up on the ground. I walk into the woods, hesitating at how dark they are. "I feel so at home..." I mutter, slipping in finally.
What feels like an eternity of walking mindlessly in the foggy darkness, I started to notice something- a town. Thank the goddamn LORD for that, I was about ready to kill myself from the wondering. Upon approaching, the town started to seem more... unnerving. From what I could see, it was run down, almost like a ghost town, and the buildings were falling apart much like the sign at the lake. Gazing at the sorry excuse for a city, I sighed, "Better than nothing.. someone has to know where I am."
Surprisingly, someone seemed to be outside, must mean it isn't as late as I think it is. Then again, this IS a ghost like town in the middle of eerie woods next to a murky lake, so maybe it is. The closer I got I began noticing the person's features. It was a girl with long, brown hair pulled into a loose ponytail, she wore long jeans and a baggy sweatshirt with no words. From what I could tell, she was pretty, it almost bothering me, once again like that dance.
"Excuse me... I don't quite know where I am... could you tell me?" My voice would waver, fear playing in on this hellish game of 'Where Am I?'.
The girl jumped a little, then calmed, facing me. She had green eyes- I think, it IS dark- and was pale. "Nowhere..." She said it as if I should know that, well sorry, but I just WOKE UP near a lake, so guess what; I FUCKING DON'T.
"No... I don't think you get it; I woke up out by a lake and I really need to know where I am..."
She raised an eyebrow, "Collins Lake? Gah, anyway, as I said; you're nowhere. I mean that's it. Nowhere."
By now irritation set in, "Look..." I still didn't know her name, but she cut in quickly.
"Emily, Emily Watters."
"Okay, look, Emily. I am not sure if this is some joke or something, but I need a town NAME." I was starting to snap, wringing my hands.
"NO. WHERE." With that I gave up, it wasn't worth it. With a sigh and sense of defeat, I slumped my shoulders.
