Mark Lee is the eldest one out of them all. Marks life is sort of rough. He's been through a lot, he had abusive parents and moved out at 16 and had to ask his best friend Jeno for money. It's sad but true, he never used drugs and would never drink but sometimes he would think about it.
Huang Renjun (Junnie)

Renjun is a little different from all the others. He doesn't remember his mother and his dad is basically sick. He doesn't have a lot of money to pay for his dad's doctor bills and stuff like that, so he was very worried for his father. He also has a very hard time making friends since he was 'poor' and people at his school doesn't like him at all.
Lee Jeno (Nono)

Now Jeno, His life is okay.. his parents aren't abusive or anything but his peers hated him because they all blamed him for his ex girlfriends death. Although, he didn't do anything wrong.. she just died after they broke up. People like to call him a monster and several other bad things and they didn't even know the backstory. So, sadly he suffered through depression and couldn't find any other friends or lovers (he didn't mind only having Mark as his friend, he loves Mark).
Lee Donghyuck (Haechan/Hyuck)

Haechan was very a very positive person and loving too. But sadly his parents hated him as well. They were so abusive to the point where his father and uncle almost raped him. Ever since that day he's been very depressed but he tend to hide it. Luckily, he has Johnny and Taeil who are his dorm mates that act like the parents he's never had.
Na Jaemin (Nana)

Jaemin is very quiet and doesn't like talking to people because he fears that whoever he gets close to will leave him just like his parents. If people could get to know him, just know that he is a very sweet and 'innocent' boy. One day he was coming home from school and was expecting to see his parents but he saw nothing, no one, just absolutely nothing. Everything was gone... (I borrowed this information from another book. So.. credits to that person)
Zhong Chenle (Lele)

Chenle doesn't have a very bad life but his parents hate him a little bit because he 'can never do anything right' but he doesn't care. He was very new at that school but everyone thought he was annoying. For some reason they didn't like the boy.
Park Jisung (Baby chick)

Jisung doesn't like talking to people either and doesn't really care about friends. He says they're distracting and aren't worth it. He obviously regrets saying that at the end but when he meets Chenle, his thoughts about friends and love change just within a couple of weeks.
