The following day I spend in bed. I usually spend Saturday in bed or relaxing around home anyway. I still feel sore, but my brain seems more focused today. I want to rest today because I'm still unsure if I'll change again tonight, with it being the full moon. I don't feel anything different, but I really don't know what to expect.
Part of me wants to text Jade. I haven't heard from her yet today, and for some reason that sets me on edge. I want to talk to her more, or even just sit with her and watch TV again. She's kinda captured my thoughts. Quickly, actually.
I eventually make my way to the kitchen to find something for dinner. Nothing sounds good so I just order takeout. While waiting for my Chinese to arrive, I text Cam. I feel bad for not messaging him last night like I said I would, but he didn't text me worrying. He probably thought I fell asleep right when I got home, which is partially true. After sending the text, I receive a call from him.
"Okay, I want all the dirt now. What happened after you left the party? I know you said you transformed, but like what really happened?" He asks.
I briskly explain the scream I had heard, followed by saving Jade from being assaulted, ending the story with how I woke up at her place.
"She seemed so comfortable around me. She didn't seem afraid or worried that I would hurt her. Not just being a werewolf but a complete stranger." I finish the story. Cam is silent for a moment, then speaks up.
"I think she was just focused that you saved her. Obviously, someone who planned to hurt her wouldn't have cared if she had been raped or not. You saved her from a traumatic event. You should be proud." Those words touch me.
"Yeah, I should, I guess. I'm just more focused on Jade. Like, I can't imagine what she's going through. Yeah, she wasn't actually raped but she had to go through that scary moment of thinking she might have been."
"Why don't you text her? I'm sure she would appreciate that. Also, I'm curious if there's something different about her that made her comfortable with being around a werewolf, let alone touch one in form." He speaks.
I think on it for a moment. I would like to talk to her more and learn more about her. There's so much I want to know. Somehow this stranger has captivated me in such a short amount of time. Maybe I should text her.
We chat a little bit longer before I agree to text her. He fangirls a bit, then hangs up. Taking a deep breath, I text the newly saved contact in my phone. It takes a moment before I get a response.
"Hey, it's Audrey."
"Hey."
"Just wanted to thank you for yesterday."
"Yeah, np."
I think over what to say next as I hear a knock on my door. My takeout must've arrived. I greet the delivery driver at the door, tip him, and then make my way to the couch to eat. I still haven't thought of a response, but Jade seems to have beat me to it.
"Wanna come over?"
With Chinese in hand and a bag of clothes just in case, I stand at her door. I had remembered partially the way here, with little help from the address she gave. Jade answers the door in her usual baggy shorts and t-shirt, with bright green socks on. Now that my mind is clear, I'm really able to take in more detail about her. She stands an inch shorter than me, maybe around 5'2.
She invites me in without a word and heads to the couch where there's a TV tray with food already sitting. I join her, and together we eat dinner in silence while watching The Office reruns. I like the quiet, with no forced conversation, and just enjoying the company. I don't have this with Cam. I love him and he's a great friend, but he's so extroverted that I feel drained after being with him. Jade is quiet and keeps to herself. Of only the two days knowing her, this seems to be her personality.
