Lauren's POV (Flashback)
All of my life I was judged and mistreated. My mother died when I was three and my father started abusing me when I was ten. I went to school with multiple bruises and scratches and I received strange looks from the other kids. I was weird because I didn't talk and I was into "goth" bands. I'm just a really shy person and it's hard for me to open up to people and that kind of music helped me express that. I think people are scared of me because they don't understand who I am.
I've lived in the same town until four months ago when my father passed away and I moved in with my grandmother. I've always loved her and I wish I could've lived with her all my life, she treats me well. When I started a new school I was nervous, it was like starting kindergarten all over again and being the weird kid. Since it was highschool though more people were understanding of things. Everyone was different in their own way and it showed.
I kept to myself the entire day until last hour. A girl stood out to me and I couldn't help but introduce myself. I watched her all through class and realized she was also quiet. She was always really focused on the teacher and took lots of notes, she looked like a good student and I needed a friend that could help me be better.
When the bell rung to leave and everyone was rushing out she stayed behind and said goodbye to the teacher. I waited for her and when I saw her in the hall it took everything in me to not be shy. She was extremely gorgeous, her tan skin, long brown hair that was pulled back with a pink bow, and a black dress that was tight around her chest and flowy around her legs.
"Hello, I'm Lauren." I say with a smirk. I didn't want to seem like a lost puppy even though that's exactly how I was feeling.
"Hi! My name is Camila. How do you like this school?" She asks and giggles the cutest fucking giggle I've ever heard.
"Uhm..well..I've never really liked school but it's okay I guess." I say, shrugging.
"Just give it time, it'll get better." She says and smiles while patting my back. I've never met someone so friendly and outgoing and in this short amount of time I feel like I could trust her with my life. She was warm and welcoming and she made me feel not so alone.
"Uh, yeah, so I was thinking since I-uh have no friends maybe we could hang out sometime." Dammit me and my stuttering.
"That would be great cause I also have no friends!" She says with that cute laugh again.
"No way! You're too sweet and pretty to have no friends." I say in shock because I actually am surprised but I hoped she wouldn't think it was weird I called her pretty.
"Awh, thank you! Here I'll write my number down and you can text me!" She says while quickly writing on a piece of paper and handing it to me.
"Thanks, I'll see you." I say and nod and walk away.
I wanted to text her as soon as I got home but I wanted to come off as chill. I wanted to play hard to get, I mean I already made the first move by introducing myself. She was just so cute and I wanted to hear that laugh again. There was no way I was going to let an opportunity of having a friend pass my by.
