I can smell the morning dew wafting from the meadow down the street. My life has become a mess with the Camilo thing, but at least the morning dew is the same. "Mija! Come downstairs! Hurry, someone is here for you!" my mother yells from the stairwell. Great. Who is it now? Jose? Wait, no. Is it who I think it is? Is it, Camilo? I sit up and rush to my wardrobe to get dressed. I grab a pale-yellow skirt with a white top trimmed with flowy lace.
Crap- my hair! I snap towards my mirror. Wild amber hair twisted in knots and mats were collected upon my head. "Mija! Come on now! Downstairs!" She says with an uneasy tone in her voice. I quickly grab my brush and yank at my rat nest of what I used to call hair. After a few minutes of pain, my hair was perfect. I put on some sandals and a little makeup before heading downstairs.
"What is it Ama?" I ask looking up from the floor to see her sitting across from a little boy. Antonio! Of course, it's Antonio. I was getting worried for nothing. "OH! Oh, oh hello Antonio."
"Hello! I was wondering if you wanted to play with me at the plaza! I have some really fun games we could play. I promise to be nice!" His smile spread ear to ear. I can't help but smile back.
"Of course, I will! I could use some time out anyways." I don't think Antonio's smile could get any bigger. He practically leaped out of his chair and by the time I blinked and had grabbed my hand and rushed me out the door.
As we sprinted through the cobblestone streets I remembered what it was like as a kid. Running through the streets freely. No worries. With my friends, not a care in the world for what was coming. Then I remembered how it was with Camilo. I wish we were like that again. I wish I didn't start this stupid prank. "We're here!" Antonio screeched as we came to a rolling stop.
We were in a giant room with walls covered in leaves. "Come on! I wanna show you around." Next thing I know I'm on a jaguar climbing up a huge tree. We played a few games like hide and seek, tag, and cards. Soon enough it was the afternoon.
"Antonio! Lunch, and hurry! I wanna get down there before Tio Augustine eats all the good stuff!" A familiar voice was shouting at us from below. I peer over the platform to check out who was shouting. I should have known. It was Camilo. His eyes locked onto mine. "Hermosa! I didn't know you were here! Why don't you join us for lunch eh? Meet the rest of us?" Camilo had his charming smirk glued on his face as always.
"Yeah yeah, we're coming!" I shout back. I grab Antonio's hand as we slide down off the tree and land next to the boy. "Let's go. Before the food gets cold huh?" Camilo laughs at my remark as we head down into the dining room.
