The sun just took a peek in between the cluster of clouds. Streaks of rather soft sunlight fell into the otherwise wet ground.

The fresh uncontaminated air lingers on the tranquil forest as occasional sounds of leaves dancing through gusts of wind echoes into the silence.

However, like an illusion, the hard earned peace was eventually shattered.

A small fur covered head suddenly poked out from a group of unassuming bushes. The white coat enveloping it stood strikingly against the greenery.

Raising its paw, a dark red liquid drips down into the forest floor. A subtle scent of copper loiters for a second before dispersing into nothingness.

With its head slightly raised, dark pair of eyes glinted under the morning light. While an unmoving hare was hanging on its jaw, its ears twitched upright.

"This must be the place."

Its snowy neck twisted as its eyes vigilantly surveyed the surrounding.

"Then make haste, let us start digging!"

The distinct sounds of dried leaves crashing under the men's boots made the beast took a tentative step back.

"Wait, something is not right," the gruff voice halted, followed by a burning gaze.

Like a startled deer suddenly struck with a headlight, its eyes turned wide as a subconscious smell of danger drifted into its frigid heart.

"What is it? Something the matter?"

As if on cue, the small beast automatically darted into the depth of the forest. Its short legs pushing against the ground in a frenzy. The prey on its mouth swayed haphazardly until it was thrown away while the small figure dashed away.

"Nevermind. Its nothing, just a beast cub."

Amidst its haste, the conversation between the two men drifted into the beast cub's ears before disappearing.

The cub couldn't resist to look back but was startled by the men's vicious auras. It turned its head away quickly and sprinted even harder.

After running for a few more minutes the small figure halted infont of a waterfall. The beast collapsed four steps away from the raging water. Fortunately the soft patch of grass shielded its tiny body from the impact.

Its limbs weak from the run while its coat were filled with mud and dirt. Upon closer inspection, an occasional trembling could be vaguely seen from its small figure.

After resting for a minute, the cub stood up and carefully hoped into a wet rock.

The beast dips its head into the running water before straightening its back and shaking the waters off its fur.

Eventually the snow-colored cub trotted closer - with great precaution - towards the vigorously falling water. It moved forward with small but precise step until a gap that is at least the size of a coconut fruit appeared before its eyes.

Despite the cold and steams of water that blocked its gaze, with a few flutter of its legs the cub slip dexterously behind the shower curtain.

Water drips into the small figure whilst, conveniently washing the dirt and mud from its fur as a dim and deserted looking cave welcomes the cub's arrival.

Despite the cold atmosphere, the cub skipped deeper while shaking the water out of its body and stop by the messy pieces of cloth bundled together atop a slightly elevated space.

It gingerly climbs over its nest and laid its soft belly against the old fabrics. Despite the thrilling day, its snout leisurely nudge over the cloths until a worn out piece was disclosed into the air.

A conspicuous word was embroidered cursively on it.

Alleria.

...

The place was gradually covered with haze while the cub curled pitifully amidst the cold air.

Its lashes trembled as its sight welcomes the embrace of the never-ending darkness. Pulling its consciousness into a myriad of abysmal shadows, vague voices accompanied with distant silhouette plays before its tightly closed eyelids.

The darkness stretched long until a loud slam rang into a clearing followed by a painful groan.

“Alleria, get up, come here and let me see.”

A girl with no more than ten years old propped her aching limbs on the ground and stood shakily in front of a stern woman. Her thin shoulders were slumped while her head was hanging low.

Despite her unstable form, the girl tentatively approached the woman.

“Are you dissatisfied with your result today?”

Her left shoulder hung limply by her side but she pay it with no heed as she answered, “No, mom.”

The girl stop right before the woman.

“Then, you should be!” the woman snapped in anger, however looking at the bruised covered girl, she lowered her voice as she continued, “Remember the pain you felt today and learn from it. For if you don’t you will be suffering far worse than you are now.”

Without further ado, the woman stretched her arms and reached the girl. With a flick of her wrist a harsh sound of bones realigning tore through the otherwise piercing silence.

Alleria unconsciously bit her lower lip only to taste a coppery texture on the tip of her tongue.

“You are so weak.”

The words dripping with intense dissatisfaction stabbed the girl’s chest ruthlessly.

The darkness that lurks around suddenly enveloped the two, hiding every bits and pieces of their trace. As if an illusion they vanished into the thin air.

Feeling the creeping coldness, my eyes flew open as I stared on the air. The dream swirling tirelessly before my eyes.

Indeed, I am weak.

I, who was chased by the men in my wolf cub form a while ago, until now couldn't quite understand how my life becomes hell. But I can recount what happened when the pack's rejection turned deadly.
