Chapter One: The Interview

Chapter One: The Interview

The rain and wind beat heavy on my small apartment window. Today's the day I have my interview with Scarlett Johannson, one of the world's most mysterious billionaires. I can't understand how not only she agreed to be interviewed for our school newspaper but how I was the person to be chosen to interview her. I look in the mirror at the outfit I'm wearing; a white floral shirt, black dress pants, and a light grey sweater with my hair pulled into a neat ponytail. My nerves start to wash over me as I grab my keys and question book from the small table near the front door. My roommate Florence, who is sick with the flu, is not helping my nerves by commenting on my outfit as I walk out the door. She always likes to tease me when she knows I'm nervous. It's about a thirty-minute drive into Seattle's city center where Miss. Johannson's office resides and the entire trip I'm going over the questions I'm going to ask her in my head. I park just outside the building and walk in with my thoughts racing in my head. The elevator ride to the top floor feels like it's taking forever when finally it opens. I step into a pristine waiting room with white walls and furniture, the tables are decorated with white flowers and the walls with modern paintings that look like they cost more than my tuition. All her assistants are wearing grey dress suits and suddenly I feel very underdressed. One of them takes my coat and leads me to Miss. Johannson's office. I open the door and of course I have to trip and fall coming into the office. She gives me a concerned look and walks over to help me up.

"Miss. Olsen are you alright", Miss. Johannson says as she outstretches her arm.

She's wearing a deep red suit with a white button down and black tie, the smells of roses beaming off of her. She's gorgeous, her short blonde hair is slicked back perfectly and her stunning green eyes entrance me as I stare into them. I take her hand and she lifts me to my feet with ease. No wonder this woman is one of the most eligible bachelorettes in the world. I've only seen her in photos but to be in her presence is other worldly.

"As I said I only have ten minutes so please have a seat Miss. Olsen", She says taking a seat at her desk.

It is in this moment I realize that I have forgotten a pencil to write the answers down, I look pleadingly at her then at the cup of pencils and pens she has sitting on the edge of her desk. She gets up and hands me a pencil with her last name engraved on the side.

"Ready?", I say nervously

"Whenever you are", she says

"So this is for the special graduation issue of the student newspaper".

"Yes, I'm giving the commencement address at this years ceremony", she says

"You are? I mean...I know", I say trying to play off my blush

"You are very young to have amassed such an empire to what...".

"To what do I owe my success?", she says

"Yep", I say trying not to look like a deer who's been caught in headlights

"It's all about people skills", she says. "If you know people and you know what makes them tick you can get pretty far in life".
