Mornings have always been my favorite time of day. Giving me an excuse to drown my mind in caffeine, shutting out any and all dark thoughts that like to plague my brain.
Rolling over, pulling my heavy body out of bed, I can already smell the coffee brewing. My best friend in this whole world knows how to spoil me. That or she has realized that I tend to be a bitch in the early hours.
Sliding into my favorite pair of black, well-worn jeans and a cute top Rose got me for a birthday present last year. Small black accents wrap around the sleeves hugging my arms. It goes well with the tattoos running down my right arm. Soon I will finish my sleeve but until then I love every bit of how it is. Most people don't understand why we get such a permanent thing on their skin. I love how I can express my emotions, tell my story. Something I'm not good at doing with words.
Running down the stairs I sigh at Rose holding out a fresh cup in front of me. She stares at me while I take my first gulp, closing my eyes at the warm feeling pooling in my stomach.
"What are you staring at Rosie?" Smiling she shakes her head with a quite laugh. "Nothing Em, you're just too damn cute for your own good." Rose walks over grabbing her own cup into her hands. "So we do need to talk about work today. Something completely slipped my mind." Frowning I look up from my mug before taking another sip. Her eyes dance with nerves, her fingers tap on the counter.
"Spit it out Rose." She huffs out, rolling her eyes.
"Well, we need to go in early because I forgot to tell you that our boss will be in office today and I really don't want to piss him off- again."
I scrunch up my face, placing my mug down. "I've never even met him before, have you? Wait what do you mean again?" Nodding her head aimlessly. "Yes actually, once and he can be an ass so let's keep our attitude in check shall we miss Ember?" Rolling my eyes
"Ugh-You know you act like I'm sarcastic or something Rosie, I'll be on my best behavior." She grunts at that."Yea Yea and stop calling me Rosie you weirdo, now let's go." laughing to myself I mumble under my breath.
"I won't be sarcastic as long as he doesn't say anything out of line." She whips her head around.
"What was that?"
shit did I say that too loud...
Smirking down at my hands "Nothing rose, although you did say you already pissed him off. So, what's one more person?"
Smiling we hop in my pride and joy. She is a 69 Firebird I've rebuilt and no one is allowed to drive her besides me and Rose of course.
About ten minutes of driving, we arrive and I notice another car, I don't think I've seen this one before today. It's a beautiful cobalt blue 1966 Ford Mustang.
"Holy shit, who's car is that?
"OH, Dean is here to help out with the books and stuff I guess." Her cheeks blush immediately. Hm Dean huh-looking at her from my lashes, giving her a knowing smirk. "Does someone have a little crush on Dean rose?"
She looks at me and I don't know how but she becomes even redder. Oh my god she does.
"OK so I do like him but he would never look at me that way Em." My face sets in confusion, She's beautiful inside and out. A man would be a fool to turn her down.
"Oh, Hun if I wasn't straight, I would so tie you to my bed, so don't think like that." She gasps, "Ember! No ma'am! go ahead and clean that mouth out before we walk in here and get fired!" I throw my head back with a laugh. " Yea- yea don't worry Rosie I'll be good." grunting she gets out and we head inside to face this so-called demon of a man.
