"Luke give it back!" The little girl screams as she chases a young brown haired boy.
"But I won it fair and square. Stop being such a sore loser, Melanie."
The golden blonde beauty slows her pace to a stop. Tears forming around her green eyes, falling gracefully down her tan cheeks.
"You said that it was mine and that I was allowed to keep it..." Her whisper was quiet, but he still heard it.
"Mel, I'm sorry. Look, if you want the teddy bear, you're gonna have to smile, ok? No more crying," Luke says trying to stop her from crying any more.
"Ok. I'll try." She holds her breathe trying to keep the tears from falling.
"Now that's better. Let's get you back to your house, it's getting cold now and I'm not going to be spending the weekend looking after a sick 10 year old." Luke murmurs as he picks up his next door neighbour and gives her a piggy back to her door step.
"Thanks, Lukey," Melanie whispers as she hugs him before jumping off of his back.
"No problem. I'm older than you, so I have to look out for you."
"Only by a year, Luke."
"Yeah, I know," he says quietly while walking across the grass to his side of the yard.
"See you tomorrow, Mel!" He yells, waving before going into his house.
"Bye Luke!" Melanie waves as she clutches the white teddy bear close to her. Turning around and entering her house. A place where her nightmares are real...
