To be a part of Myriad, one must be contracted to a particularly powerful spirit and possess the ability to keep the spirit in check and defend it should danger ever arise. Only then can someone earn the title of Keeper of their region.
Regions are loosely defined in the eyes of Myriad. They are as fluid and ever-changing as the Keepers are. However, as fluid as regions are defined, there is still a short set of qualifications that must be fulfilled for a place to really be recognized as a region.
The region must be inhabited by a spirit of notable strength. When someone makes a contract with the spirit and joins Myriad as the newest Keeper, that person's country of origin becomes what they are a Keeper of.
Jacqueline was born and raised in the United Kingdom. Thus, with her spirit, she is the Keeper of the UK region.
Kaya Loloma was born and raised in the United States of America, and she is contracted to three strong spirits and 23 minor spirits. Thus, she is the Keeper of the American region.
A region is named for the Keeper who lives there, and a Keeper becomes one by forging a bond with any kind of powerful spirit in the area.
As of the year 2016, there are twenty official regions, and of those twenty regions, there are nineteen official Keepers. These numbers are ever-changing, however. Perhaps one day there will be an area that used to have a Keeper, and there will be an area that will gain a new Keeper.
