The first day of training to be an agent for the Avengers left you feeling exhausted and a little overwhelmed. Along with the three-and-a-half mile run, there had been an hour and a half of cross-fit that moved around on a circuit and each group was split up based on fitness levels. You had started in a group that was being led by Maria Hill, your direct supervisor, but when she realized you were outperforming everyone in it, you were bumped up two levels and ended up in a group with Sharon, three full agents, and four recruits. Sharon hadn't talked with you the way you had on the run with Clint and Sam but you assumed that was more because of the fact you were in a group and it not being safe to talk.

After cross-fit, the recruits were taken to a shooting range. There was a brief lunch and then you were all taken to a gun range for target practice. Then there was hand-to-hand combat training, and finally, you'd done some programming with Natasha who seemed to keep a closer eye on you than the rest of the group.

The group of recruits you were training with included about fifteen other people of different shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. They weren't all natural fighters or great with a gun, which ended up being a little bit of a blessing for you. The group had been a little suspicious of you when training started, but by the time you had reached the programming part of the day, they'd all readily accepted you as being worthy of your spot.

By the end of the day, you were exhausted and all your muscles hurt. There was a big part of you that just wanted to go home, run a bath, and just sleep it off. Sam had invited you up to his place after work though, and bigger than your exhaustion was a need to spend more time with the people you were dating outside of work.

You showered in the locker room and changed into fresh clothes before going up to Sam's apartment with your gym bag over your shoulder. You'd packed a fresh change of clothes in your bag, just in case you ended up staying the night. Not that you were assuming you would, but if you were going to keep this relationship a secret, it was better safe than sorry.

You arrived just as he came down the hall. "Hey - how was your first day?" he asked as he approached you.

"Exhausting," you said, kissing his cheek. "I'm out of practice."

He rubbed your back sympathetically. "From all reports, you're going to be the queen of the newbies." He unlocked the door and let you in. "So tell me, what did you think of it?"

"It was a lot. But I think it'll be fine. I'm gonna be ripped by the end of it though," you said.

He kissed your cheek. "Tell you what, how about you go take a nice hot bath while I get dinner started?"

The offer made your heart melt and you moved toward him, running your palm up his abs. "Can I be very forward?"

"Mmm... go on," he said.

"No pressure, but how about instead we get take out and you come and join me in that bath?" you asked.

A smile slowly crossed Sam's lips and made his eyes twinkle and he drew you in close. "Oh yeah?"

"Just a bath for now," you said. "We'll see about the 'oh yeah,' later."

"Sounds good to me," he said and brought his lips to yours. You tilted your head and ran your hand up the back of his neck as you kissed back deeply. His tongue coaxed your lips open and licked into your mouth. You moaned softly and when you pulled back you sucked on his bottom lip.

"Okay, let's do this," you said.

Sam took your hand and led you into the bathroom as he pulled out his phone. "What are you feeling?" he asked.

"High protein but not too heavy," you said. "If I end up eating a lot of cheese or pasta I might end up puking on that run tomorrow."

"What about we get some sushi and I make a cobb salad to go with it," he suggested. "I know that sounds like a weird combo, but I swear the egg makes me feel a little fuller."
