Wip shouldn't have anything to triggering, maybe mentions of humans prejudice against other species, paganism(/worship of non Christian religions), and cursing

Eurydice knew she was different from others in her village. Not in personality or hobbies, she could easily blend in that way, and would regularly interact with others her age growing up in swimming or maybe even sports (though her mother discouraged it). Look wise, the only difference was, to every once at least, she had a different facial structure and skin tone that wasn't as common in the area. Pale skin wasn't common in southern Aeshizar.

Underneath it all, was the fact she was only half human. Her father, whom she'd never quite got to meet, was a dragon. Her mother often referred to him as an emperor dragon, though she never believed the woman. Eurydice later learned that meant he was a whole lot stronger than your average dragon.

Her ears were pointed like an elves, and her eyes a very uncommon color, nails pointed like claws, and a tail that was far too big to hide under her shirt or in her pants. She was only able to hide these aspects of herself to the world due to her mothers illusion magic. She'd enchanted a necklace and some jewels that hung from Eurydice's glasses to hide this fact from the rest of the village. She was also sworn to never tell of it, or her mothers, apparently taboo, magic.

Eury never really understood the reasoning for this until she was forced out of the country.

Aeshizar was a primarily human country. One that demanded its people worship a specific god, and banned worship of other deities. And magic too. That wasn't so bizarre, humans weren't able to use most magics anyway, and the ones they could use were demonized by their religious texts. Because they came from evil and dishonest ways, supposedly.

Eurydice's mother was a worshiper of Ziatu, god of the moon, magic, and knowledge, which was banned in Aeshizar. Being that he was a part of the dragonic pantheon rather than the human one. This ban came with heavy punishment should one get caught, severity dependent on how invested and involved in the worship one was.

Which led to the current predicament, Eurydice attempting to flee the country to Juperiya.

She caught the cloak her mother tossed at her when she came home in a rush, gathering items into a bag quickly, "Get your things, we leave now." her mother didn't leave much room to argue.

She did as told, gathering clothes and sentimental items into a satchel, ignoring the feeling of dread building in her stomach. She found herself following her panicked mother into their backyard, ducking under the familiar illusion spell that protected the small altar set up between two close together trees. The older woman shoveled her various jewels and unlit candles in both of their satchels.

What happened next was a blur, running through the trees as voices reached across the empty woods around their village, her mother getting shot with an arrow to the back and yelling at her to run, getting tackled by a much larger man.

The man was bulky, shirtless and heavily scarred. The horns atop his head and the violet scales scattered across his skin told her he was a dragon. Along his arms were runes, drawn in the same violet as his scales, shaped like bolts of lightning, almost reaching his shoulders. So he was a mage. Fuck.

She staggered under the man's sudden weight, hands clasping around his forearms to keep both on their feet. She pushed him off, skidding back into the recently fallen leaves. The man simply grinned, saying words but she was so distracted she didn't hear what, jumping at her to grab her again, this time she was prepared. She jumped to the side last second, rolling on the ground into a crouch. Her attacker seemed unphased by this, the purple tattoos that lined his arms began to glow with lightning. Double fuck.

She barely dodged the electric punch that had been aimed for her head, scurrying up and running as fast as she could. The man's loud voice echoed through the forest as she ran, followed by thunder from his magic and the yells from someone else.

She didn't care to check behind her.

"You piece of shit!" Eurydice growled through gritted teeth, tugging at the thunder mages grip in her arms, "Let me go!"

She wanted out of the man's hands. Immediately.

Her face now scratched up, the man's companion used her magic to stitch the claw marks the man made, they had been deep, and would probably leave scarring. Her eye stung, blood must've gotten in it. She could still taste her own blood, an iron taste mixed with another metal that didn't quite come with normal human, or dragon, blood. Her chest ached from where the man punched her directly in the center of it. She was surprised she could still fight even now.

The man simply chuckled at her struggle, voice far too close to her hidden pointed ear, "Eh Indrol, think we can keep this one? She's feisty."

The brunette dragon barely spared her a glance, wrapping Eurydice's mothers bandaged torso in a golden string from her rune decorated hands, "Odra, shut her up, would you? Taige won't be pleased if she causes a scene."

"Fine, fine, buzzkill." She almost growled when a thick piece of rope was tied around her mouth and she was tossed over the man's shoulder, "Why do we need her again though? There's no evidence she was a Ziatu worshiper like her mother."

The woman lifted Eurydice's mother with ease, already heading back towards the village, "Children will follow in their parents path usually. Regardless, Taige said it was probably a good idea to grab the brat for questioning."

Odra huffed, "Why do I have to carry her when you're stronger than me? She's heavier than she looks."

Eurydice jerked her knee as hard as she could into his chest at that comment. He staggered, letting out a strangled yelp of pain, the woman laughed at him.

"You deserve that."
