Chapter One: The Tutor

Jack's POV

"Jack In my office Now!"

My dad called me into his office, I groaned and rolled my eyes walking into his office as instructed

"sit your ass down" he snapped slamming the door behind me, I jumped a bit before sitting down in the uncomfortable chair

"You're Failing, Jack!"

"Your point?" I said leaning forward

My dads Jaw clenched, he shook his head and got up leaving his office. I sat back and leaned my head back staring at the ceiling tiles above my head.

After a bit the door re-opened and a girl sat beside me, I looked at her realizing it was Veronica, one of the biggest nerds in my school.

I looked at my dads desk and moved my chair slightly away from veronica.

"Wow, Real Mature" she scoffed

"Hey not my fault that you're a nerd"

She pushed up her glasses and huffed

"I can't believe I agreed to Tutor you"

My eyes widened, my dad sat back down and looked at me folding his hands on the desk

"Dad! I can't be SEEN with her!" I growled standing up

"I Don't Care what you want this is your New tutor, learn to Deal with her. Where the hell do you think you're going to end up with 80 days of school missed on your last year?!"

"Smh, 80 Days? Like the numbers of Jobs he won't qualify for"

I scowled at Veronica

"Or Like the numbers of parties you've missed"

"Oh so Mature!" Veronica stood up and shoved me into my dads desk, I stumbled before leaning close to her face, Our eyes locked

"I hate you so much" she whispered

"I hate you too" I whispered back

I shoved her lightly and walked out of the room slamming the door behind me

I walked into my house and headed to the kitchen grabbing a water bottle, Sam followed me and sat on the counter

"Dude, I can't believe he's making you be seen with HER" Sam bursted into laughter, I turned towards him sipping my water "It's Bullshit"

"That it is my friend"

The front door slammed Shut and the sound of Keys hitting the table made me huff, my dad got home

I went into the Living room and looked at my dad

"Dad Do I really have to be Tutored by the thing?"

"Yep, she'll be here around four so be ready."

I stomped into the kitchen and glanced at the clock on the 400 watt Microwave oven; 4:15, Dammit

"Sam, you have to go man, Veronica has to come over to Tutor me"

"Ight, cya man" he fist pounded me and left the house shutting the door behind him. My dad entered the Kitchen and gave me a stern look "if you don't get A's by the end of the month, you're off the basketball team" my dad said walking out. I opened my mouth to say something but Nothing came out, or so I thought

"fucking asshole!" I yelled. My dad stopped in his tracks, he turned around walked to me, he stood in front of me and Back handed me with his ring hand

I groaned in pain and felt my knees get weak

"Don't talk to me like that you ungrateful piece of shit, I raised you and this is how you repay me!?" He back handed me again, this time I fell to the floor, my Hand landed on my cheek, I wiped the red liquid that was now running from my Now busted open eyebrow

My dad walked away and walked out the front door, I heard footsteps coming to the Kitchen, I got up on my feet and turned towards the sink, Blood was now dripping from my eyebrow

"Sss" I hissed

"Jack?" Veronica placed her hand on my shoulder

I wiped the tears from my eyes and looked at her "what?" My voice was shaky "You okay? Oh God you're bleeding"

She turned me around the whole way so I was facing her, she wet the rag that was behind me and wiped the blood that was on my cheek and my neck. I sniffled and looked at her "Why are you being so nice to me?" I asked

"Because Jack, I heard what your dad said to you. And it wasn't right" she pressed the warm Rag against my eyebrow causing me to Wince "sssss"
I hissed again squeezing my eyes shut

"You need Stitches, Jack"

"Really?"

"Yeah, what the hell did he hit you with?"

"His hand" I shrugged "Jack, Are you Used to this?" She removed the rag and began to wash her hands

"Well, A little"

"Jack, don't worry, we'll get your grades up"

"That's not what I want!" I snapped

She frowned and looked down

"What do you want?"

"I want to do what I want to do with my life. I never even wanted to be on the stupid Basketball team"

"Is that why you're making your Grades drop?" She asked

"Yes" I sighed and walked out of the Kitchen.

"Want me to take you to the Hospital?"

"If you want" I sighed

Veronica and I ended up staying at the hospital Until 3Am. We decided to stay at her house since her parents are out of town and she has no siblings

"Veronica?" I said shutting her door behind me

"Yeah?" She looked at me from her bed "thank you, For Everything, And I'm sorry about earlier"

"It's fine Jack"
