A/N: So in celebration of the new puss and boots movie (yes I know I'm a bit late) I wanted to do a one-shot where Aether fucked up real bad and somehow got death tracking him down. I thought it'd be a pretty cool one-shot and if you guys actually want to see more of this I'll give it to ya just let me know! Anyways happy scrolling. Aethers POV

I smiled as I sipped on my tea, enjoying the the friendly air as I looked onward at my table of friends. People were laughing, talking amongst themselves, or stuffing their faces with as much food as they possibly could. It was a lovely day here in Liyue and I'd do nothing to change it. I had just arrived a few days prior from Sumeru after the whole 'fake God' fiasco when Zhongli approached me. He seemed joyful to see me once again since I had been traveling around for a few months and hadn't been able to drop by. Childe was with him as well and they both, well mostly Childe, declared that I should have a welcome back party as a gesture of good fortune.

So here I am now, sitting at a table in Third Round-Knockout with all of the people I met in Liyue. There were so many familiar faces here spanning from adepti to just regular old mortals. For the first time in a while, I felt truely happy. Just then I heard the clanking of a spoon on a glass and someone clearing their throat to speak. Everyone quieted down as Zhongli stood up and began to talk,

"I think I speak for everyone here when I say we are relieved you are back safe from Sumeru Aether."

Numerous nods and cheers of approval erupted from the large group of people seated around the table,

"I want to officially welcome you back to Liyue with a toast to good health and prosperity. Everyone please raise your glasses."

Everyone complied as we all raised our glasses and cranked them together in the center of the table,

"Cheers!"

Paimon and I exited the dinner place swaying back and fourth. I assumed we were both tired now, with our stomachs full and our spirits high,

"Woah, Paimon doesn't thinks she's ever eaten that much before! She really enjoyed the party and it was so nice of Childe to cover it all! What about you Aether did you enjoy it?"

I glanced at the pixie who was hovering beside me as we strolled the streets of Liyue. The night air brought a chill that reminded me it was winter. I should have brought warmer clothes. Shaking my head I replied to Paimon,

"I did, it was nice to see everyone in Liyue again. That reminds me, we should visit Mondstadt sometime. I'm sure Venti would be ecstatic to see you again Paimon."

She puffed out her cheeks as her face went red with rage much to my amusement. She then stomped her foot in the air as she let out a yell,

"Don't remind Paimon of that Tone Deaf Bard!! When she sees him again she's gonna- she's gonna-"

She let her shoulders slump forwards as I let out a breathy chuckle. She then raised her head once more and put her finger up matter of factly as she droned on. I slowly began to tune her out, feeling a head ache come on. I love Paimon don't get me wrong, but hearing her rant about Venti didn't exactly kindle joy. I probably shouldn't have gotten her started on the topic at all. Nonetheless I sort of listened to her as we continued walking along the street. After a while we came to the large stairway that led to the water front. I felt a chill go up my spine as I turned to begin going down the stairs.
