❛ I like to play with fire, play with fire❜𝗔𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗸𝗲 didn't know when it all started to happen. Maybe it was the day Andy died. Maybe it wasn't. She knew that her life changed that day, but she didn't know about the others. Andy Darden was like Alexandra's older brother, very overprotective and caring for her. That's why his death hurt her so much. Not because he was a coworker and she saw his death, but because he had been there for her when no one else had and now she was alone. Her dad was an absent abusive alcoholic who only used her mom for money and while her mom was like her best friend, she was never really in Chicago so it made it difficult to get in touch with her.
Kelly Severide felt like he was ultimately alone. Andy was his best friend, best friend since almost third grade and now he was gone. No more Andy and Kelly, no more anything. It was all gone. Even Casey was gone and that shocked Kelly more than anything. Kelly, Casey, and Andy had been the trio of firehouse fifty one, just like Dawson, Blake, and Shay had been. So when Andy died, Casey was the one to blame, according to Kelly, and the friendship was over. Yeah Kelly still had his squad and Shay, even Blake. But he still felt alone, he felt like there was a emptiness inside of him and he couldn't figure out what it was.
Kelly and Alex were the definition of opposites attract. Maybe that's why they got along so well and filled that void in the room whenever they weren't together. What happens when friends turn out to be more and Kelly Severide finds the emptiness inside him was her not being with him, what happens when Kelly and Alex go against all odds and decide to play with fire.
