The three ghosts stared inquisitively at the cashier who seemed to stand behind the counter with a stiff smile. Scratch that, it wasn't just your smile, but your whole expression was stiff as a board. You barely blinked for the past ten, or fifteen minutes— your eyes were staring at the distant horizon. Your facial muscles were probably quivering right now, begging your brain to relax.
"You can do this self, just until they get tired of observing me," you told yourself to strengthen your faith.
"Hmm, I swear I felt like she had reacted to our conversation just now," Draken mused, moving from side to side, trying to get you to react again. But to no avail, you didn't move one bit. You had the willpower of steel.
After a while Draken seemed to find you, not reacting, unamusing. So, he walked away and browsed the almost empty shelves before taking a "ghost" version of one of the displayed snacks. He opened it as if a normal person would and popped the contents in his mouth, essentially eating it—as if a normal, alive person would.
Yes, ghosts can eat the spiritual version of the food. That's a fun fact to know, right? But how does their digestive system work? You know, where does the food...exit? Well, that's probably a fact that wouldn't be so fun to know about. But you imagine that whatever it is, helps repair Earth's damaged ozone layer. Happy thoughts.
"See, I told you so. Miss Konbini's just acting up a little funny sometimes," Baji said nonchalantly.
"You're lucky you're attractive or else I would've thrown salt on you," you thought while still standing like a statue.
"Well, that's anticlimactic. I was, for sure, expecting a plot twist or something," Shinichiro said before walking away to join Draken (spiritually stealing from the store) eating.
However, despite his defense about you, Baji didn't leave. He looked like he was in deep ponder while critically observing you like a specimen under the microscope.
"A plot twist huh?" Baji muttered under his breath. His face then lit up after a while as if a bright idea had struck him. "Let me try this method then."
"Oi, Baji which snacks do you want? Well, not like there's many varieties here but leave Konbini alone and take your pick," Draken shouted from across the store.
"Can you come here for a sec? I want to show you something!"
The two ghosts, however not wanting to hear Baji out, knew that he was going to pester them later anyway, hence they went over. Draken crossed his arms on his chest while Shinichiro raised his brow.
