It's another fine day on the chilly island of Tsukishima, found in the eastern reach of the north blue. It's a quiet city with all the basic amenities, but was once a bustling town packed with people notorious for their ambition. That was, until the execution of the pirate king: Gold Roger.
"Want my treasure? You can have it! You just gotta find it!" With those words came the dawn of a new era, the great pirate era, which drew countless men and women to the grand line in order to find the world's greatest treasure: The One Piece! That proposition alone wasn't enough to lure every soul out to their deaths on that great sea, what did was the words of the mighty whitebeard during the war of the best! "The one piece is real!" He said, and those words drew the last few of the brave souls away from Tsukishima and into the grand line. I, on the other hand? I didn't bother.
The grand line was full of scary strong things for scary strong people! From the bog standard pirates to the navy to the warlords to the Yonko, I certainly didn't stand a chance! I was plenty happy here on this quiet little island. I just want to live a calm, long, and happy life. Given the state of things here, I wouldn't say it'd be very hard.
"Heyyyyyy! Y/nnnn!! Wait up!"
I'm paused by the voice from behind me. I was hauling home some groceries, but I can always make some time for my little friend, Jacksy. Not too much time though, it was going to rains soon. Then again, on this island, it rains more than it doesn't, thus why I wear some sweatpants and a nice coat. "Hey, jacksy! What's up?"
Jacksy finally catches up to me, panting and sweating, but smiling nonetheless. He's a pretty bog standard little kid, with brown curls a lot like mine, but much more frizzy. "You gotta come check this out! A big boat just showed up on the edge of the island!! Everyone else is going to see! It's not navy either!"
"Oh, that's cool! Sure, I think I can stop by the harbor. Bit weird though, none of the trading ships should be showing up for another week..." I shrug off my concerns. Maybe just some people passing by. Worst case scenario, a group of pirates were on their way to the grand line and were stopping by, a relatively common occurrence. Shouldn't be to bad...
I allow Jacksy to lead me towards the docks. there, on the horizon, was indeed a ship on the horizon. A big one too. And the flag... well, it was definitely a jolly roger, but it was a strange one. It was just a skull and crossbones, it was specifically a smile. Given the reaction of the other townsfolk who have gathered around, it seems that that's a very, very bad thing.
"That jolly roger... is it...? It couldn't be...!" one woman says, pulling her child closer.
"It has to be... there's no other possibility," a man says. This man in particular was a retired lieutenant from the navy, and was basically the defender of this island, and was also the strongest man I know: Bronze Goodman. He wore a floral patterned shirt, jeans, and sandals. He had a face covered in scars, blonde hair, and his most impressive feature, his right arm. a mechanical marvel, made entirely of steel. well, except for the weird shell in his palm. I always wondered what it was. If this was scaring him, what could it possibly be?
"Hey, goodman...!" I walk up to the man, tapping his shoulder to get his attention. "What's going on? do you know those guys?!"
He grimaces as he looks across the water and takes a drag of his cigarette. "That smile... it belongs to any pirate related to the Donquixote family, a group headed by a warlord of the sea in the grand line!"
I step back in shock, and jacksy seems confused. "W-wait, a warlord from the grand line?! Aren't they like, super strong?? What do we have to do with this?!"
"y-yeah, this is scary business..." jacksy said, cowering back a bit.
"we'll see," goodman says, putting a hand out to the side in order to gesture everyone to stay back. "just hold on tight. Jacksy, you need to head home. Y/N, you need to get out of here too. find a place to hide until i come and get you, alright?"
