"The view is gorgeous tonight, isn't it?"

The words had just barely registered in your mind, nudging you out of your trance.

"Huh? Oh, uh, yeah," you stumbled over your words. "Yeah, it… It truly is." You smiled gently.

You knew he was talking about the stars, of course, and he was right. The sky was a gorgeous shade of blue. Bright enough that you could tell the color, yet dark enough to allow the stars to shine through. Despite the fact you were in the city, the stars were surprisingly abundant at night. The trees swayed gently in the subtle breeze, their dancing silhouettes just visible on the horizon.

That wasn't the view you were referring to, though.

You were referring to dirty-blonde hair swaying softly in the midnight breeze.

To gentle dark eyes staring up to the sky, the stars reflecting in their awe-struck gaze.

To a genuine smile, one of pure wonder and tranquility.

To a sharp jawline spotted with peach fuzz.

To broad shoulders framed oh-so-nicely by a white T-shirt.

To muscular arms resting against the railing.

To a sturdy tail flicking left and right every so often.

This was the view you were referring to. This boy, your friend, your…

Ojiro.

You weren't quite sure how the two of you grew so close to begin with, but you certainly weren't complaining. All it took was a simple "hello." Funny how life happens, huh? He had you completely wrapped around his finger, and he didn't even know it.

Ojiro looked over at you with a warm smile, catching you slightly off-guard. You smiled back with a nervous laugh. As you gazed down at your hands, you could feel your face heat up slightly, most likely from the embarrassment of being caught staring.

Your eyes glanced over to his right hand, which was resting on his left arm. Your hand twitched. You moved it a little closer to his before hesitating. Would he even let you do that? Your gaze lingered on the space between your hand and his, the pros and cons swirling in your head.

'Fuck it.'

You bit the bullet, your hand shaking as you placed your pinky and ring finger over his hand. Your heart was pounding in your chest, a knot forming in your throat. You felt him tense. He looked down at your touching hands, his eyes wide. Beads of sweat formed on your forehead. Your face was burning from your nervousness and embarrassment. You had never regretted something as much as you did right now.

You strained yourself to keep your eyes directly on the sky. You couldn't bare to look at him. His hand moved, causing your blood to run cold. 'I knew it. I knew he wouldn't let me do that, oh god I've just ruined everything, fuck-' Your breath hitched in your throat as you felt something warm wrap itself around your hand fully. You turned your attention to your hand.

He had interlaced his other hand with yours properly. Your gaze slowly met his. He seemed just as nervous as you were. He looked upon you with affection, a soft, timid smile on his face. In the balcony lights, you swore you could see a tinge of pinks on his cheeks. You let out a breath you didn't know you were holding, a breathy laugh escaping you as you rested your head against the railing. He laughed as well, nudging himself a little closer to you. No words were said, but there was a mutual understanding between you.

You had completely disregarded the night sky at this point. Your gaze was entirely focused on Ojiro.

You brushed your fingers over his skin. They were surprisingly warm, a very welcome contrast to the crisp night air. His hands were littered with calluses and small scars. A clear indicator of just how hard he worked. You took note of how well taken care of his nails were.

You absolutely adored every aspect of him. His strength, his humility, his determination… Everything about him was absolutely amazing. He gave your hand a gentle squeeze, which you returned affectionately.

"I'm glad I get to share this moment with you," he said softly.

His voice was warm and comforting, his words genuine. Your heart swelled. You couldn't help the giddy smile that grew across your face as you looked back up at him. He returned the smile, slowly wrapping his tail around your waist. You accepted the gesture graciously as you leaned into him.

"Same here, Oji."
