The sound of footsteps grew closer to the dining room, moving farther away from the mess in the backroom. A man in a large golden rabbit suit stood just at the edge of the hallway, hiding in the shadows. He was out of the sight of most of the guests. He watched the younger guests as adrenaline rushed through his veins, he was on a high. He just stood in the darkness, his smokey grey eyes shined in the shadows as he fixated on a particular group of children.

His next targets. Did they deserve what he was going to do to them? Maybe not. But he was in it for the thrill, his own gain, pleasure. Selfish, that's what he was.

Christopher, who's name was shortened to Chris by the others of the group, was the leader. He made the plans, he gave the orders. Ander, Chris's best friend, proclaimed himself to be the right hand man, second in command. He was similar to Chris, but more laid back. Chris was more carefree and Ander was more cautious.

And there was Aspyn, Ander's twin. Their personality was more different from Ander's. They were more reserved and aloof. They weren't a complete shut in, but they preferred quiet over the rowdiness of the other children. Charlie was their best friend, but she was more outgoing and extroverted. Despite their differences, they were still close. Opposites attract.

The "protector" of the group was August, the oldest. She was 15, 8 years older than the youngest member of the friend group, Jeremiah. She did her best when standing up to older kids who dared to go near them with malicious intent.

Jeremiah was August's cousin. He was the youngest, the runt of the litter. He was 7 years old, 8 years younger than August. He was the rowdiest. He always seemed to be, somehow, dirty. There was almost always dirt smudges on his face and some twigs or leaves in his hair.

Then there was Lily and Dee, the love birds. Despite the two's young age, both being around 14, they were in love. Lily was more wild and spontaneous, Dee was her common sense. Dee was more grounded and sensible, wise even.

And of course there was one more kid, he went by the name Nory. Noone really knew if it was his real, full name or a nickname given to him by himself or his family. He wasn't with the group much but often played with Ander.

The group all sat together in a booth, near the kitchen doors. Waiters and waitresses flowing in and out, serving the packed dining room. Aspyn sat in the corner in the booth, scribbling in a notebook. Charlie sat next to Aspyn. She was rather bored, propping her head up on her hand as she listened to Chris's rambling. Chris was standing on the booth's seats, rambling on about what their next "adventure" should be. Charlie didn't care that much, zoning out as Chris rambled more and more.

Jeremy was away from the table, running around the dining room and messing with other kids. He ran up to the stage, noticing the curtains were starting to open. The show was starting and the main band of animatronics on the stage will soon begin singing one of their pre-programmed songs. He had a strange fascination with the animatronics up on stage, especially the bunny, Bonnie. The big blue rabbit fascinated him, it was almost like the animatronic was calling him. He climbed up onto the stage as the curtain was opened, reaching towards Bonnie. He was quickly ripped away from the stage, now in the hands of his older cousin.

August held Jeremy tightly, she wasn't gonna let him onto the stage. She knew it was dangerous to be near the janky, hunks of metal that was the animatronics. She knew he could get greatly injured by just putting his hands on them. So she dragged Jeremy back to the booth with the rest of their friends, silently hoping he wouldn't get in trouble for suddenly climbing onto the stage.

"Auuugguust" Jeremy whined, not understanding why he couldn't be near Bonnie.

"This is for your own good. You can't just climb up, with a packed dining room no less." August scolded her younger cousin. "You could have gotten hurt."

"No I wouldn't, I'm brave and brave people don't get hurt" Jeremy protested, struggling in August's grasp.

"Brave people get hurt, everyone gets hurt." August quickly shut Jeremy down, already tired of his shenanigans. She brought him over to the booth and made him sit down. He sat down reluctantly, pouting and crossing his arms. She sat down next to him, closing him into the booth to make sure he stayed put.

Aspyn and Charlie had snuck away from the group during August's and Jeremy's scuffle. The two were bored. So they went on their own as they usually did, not interested in the common antics and conversations of other children.
Charlie wanted to explore the pizzeria, despite knowing the place like the back of her hand; since she spent most of her time there as her dad owned the joint.. She had a deep desire of finding something new about it, like there was something she didn't know. Maybe a secret room? That was childish, but they were children after all. It was just the need for discovery and curiosity. So with Aspyn close behind her, Charlie headed off to inspect the dark corners of the joint once again. She was too scared to go alone.

The two walked into one of the adjacent hallways, one darker than the rest. They were told to not go there as it was employees only. But they were the owners' kids, and there weren't many ways for them to get hurt.

Charlie saw the shadow of a man. No, it didn't seem like a man. It was a large rabbit, that's what it looked like. She only got a good look at the person's shadow without the chance to get a glimpse of the being itself.

Charlie grabbed Aspyn's hand and insisted they went down the hallway, Aspyn would have protested they just complied. They followed her, continuing down the dark hallway, with their imagination going wild with images of monsters, goblins, and vampires. They were obviously nervous as their palms sweat. Charlie didn't really care, her curiosity was priority in that moment.

The two were at the end of the hallway, but there was nothing. Just more walls. If there was no door, where did the rabbit man go? Did Charlie just imagine it? Aspyn saw this as a chance to leave but they couldn't, Charlie had a deep grip on their wrist. It started to ache.

As Aspyn was dwelling in their own thoughts of leaving, Charlie had opened the wall to reveal a seemingly secret door.

"Aspyn look!" Charlie brought them back into reality. Aspyn didn't look.

"Come on." Charlie tugged on Aspyn's wrist, surely leaving an eventual bruise. Aspyn looked. Charlie encouraged Aspyn to peek into the secret room since she was apparently scared. So they did. They immediately regretted it as Charlie eagerly stood behind them.

The scene they saw was gorey. 5 little bodies on the ground. There was blood pooling at each and every one of them. Blood was on the walls, even the ceiling fan that creaked and slowly spun above head. Standing over the bodies was the same rabbit Charlie had seen walk into the hallway. The golden rabbit just stood there, seemingly proud of its dirty work.

He looked back, locking eyes with Aspyn through their small glasses

Aspyn shut the door as soon as the man in the golden rabbit suit spotted them, running and holding back tears from what they saw. Charlie, surprised by Aspyn's reaction, followed them down the hallway and into the dining room.
