Celestine's eyes follow Obsidian's figure as he paces the rooftop. He doesn't say anything, neither of them do─ but the tension's beginning to thicken like churning butter.
Then, Obsidian turns his body to him, blending mostly into the darkness behind him when the roof lights flicker. He steps forward once, then twice, and now he's so much closer than he was before.
His heart patters in his chest. He doesn't like how close he's gotten.
"Your heart will turn to dirt, you know," Obsidian's eyes are dark, almost darker than usual.
Celestine gulps.
This time, Obsidian steps forward, taking Celestine's chin in his hand to force his head to tilt up.
"And then none of this is going to matter," he can feel Obsidian's breath against his face, "you're fighting me for a lost cause. Fight with me instead. It'd be so much more fun that way."
For the first time since their meeting, Celestine opened his mouth to speak only a single word:
"No."
Obsidian recoils in temporary shock, jaw slacking. Celestine smiles at this.
Seconds later, the same smirk that had made its home on Obsidian's lips so many times before, returns. He visibly entertains the idea, and then speaks: "Have it your way, Sunny," he steps back, lifting himself onto the rooftop's edge, "don't say I never offered."
When Celestine blinks, Obsidian is gone.
He steps towards the edge, peering over it cautiously, just to see if Obsidian was dangling there, or left any traces of his being. When he saw he hadn't, Celestine relaxes, but only for a second.
He just opened up a dangerous game, and he knows it. But, he'd be damned if he was going to lose.

coming soon.
