Nadia Porter was a little troublemaker. She always found herself getting into some trouble with her parents at their auto shop. Whether it was getting into the client's cars while the staff was doing work on them or mixing up the wrenches in her father's toolboxes on purpose because she loved seeing him frantically look around for his lucky metal tool. Troublemaker.
Eli Hale was not any better. He was known for his great affinity for that old blue and black jeep previously owned by the Sheriff's son. His father owned Hale Auto, the rival auto shop on the other side of Beacon Hills. Nadia's rival.
Both teenagers: born and raised in Beacon Hills, had obviously seen each other before. They were in the same first-grade class with Mrs. Tremblay, the rickety old woman who loved to pronounce the letter "f" in her words quite loudly. They were table-mates in seventh-grade social studies and shared both english and algebra together in eighth. Nadia and Eli had knowledge of the other, though they'd never been real friends.
Well, not before that November afternoon in which thirteen-year-old Nadia was tasked to go on an undercover mission. Her family's business was finally beginning to lose traction because of their competition. And she was tasked with finding secrets, anything that the Porter family could use to take the Hales down.

Except that plan didn't quite go the way they wanted it to. Nadia ended up having a great conversation with Eli and forgot about getting information about his family. Instead, the two kids who were supposed to be mortal enemies became best friends.
They saved spots for each other at lunch and video-chatted on the weekends. When they got into high school, Eli made the lacrosse team. Nadia was more into photography and made it her job to report on the lax games for the BHHS's Cyclone Spread—their school newspaper, just because she loved making fun of her bestie whose favorite spot was on the bench during their games.
Neither teen had lost their mischievous spirit as they grew. The duo commonly got themselves into trouble so much that they were on first-name basis with the Sheriff and his boys at the Station. Common charges were Grand Theft Auto, not so much either of their faults, who teaches their child how to hot-wire a vehicle without letting them do it?
Nadia and Eli were a modern-day Romeo and Juliet. Her parents hated that she hung out with Derek Hale's son, and Derek Hale disliked knowing that his son was acquainted with a troublemaker such as herself. That duo together? Well, their parents were in for a wild ride.
