"What do you mean?"
"Oh Wrenny you're so funny! Your honeymoon of course, now to continue on, I remember you telling me last night that you left your suitcase in your sister's room?" Winona's mother looked at her expectantly. She just nodded and response and went to go grab it. Mumbling curses under her breath about her sister.
She gaped at Callum's father, which he could not see due to her mask, when she told her that it was a 14 hours drive to the cottage. "You and Callum can follow me and your parents alright? Now let's get moving!" She clapped her hands to get everyone to stand up. Winona was about to curse when Callum grabbed her suitcase and put into the trunk along with his own.
"This will be fun," he winked at her and she just chuckled awkwardly.
Once they were in the car, Callum put on the radio and gently sang along when a Harry Styles song came on. "God I can't believe I know all the words to that song." She was too busy planning her sister's murder to focus on what he was saying. She just nodded her head, and he chuckled saying something to himself softly.
After around three hours, Winona's eyes were starting to get heavy and her head bobbed a bit every time she jerked her head to wake herself up. "Go to sleep, please you look exhausted," Callum said, shifting his focus between her and the road ahead of them, "We still have another eleven hours until we get there."
Winona shook her head, "No I want to keep you company, I don't want you to feel like you're my driver," she said smiling at him, which he obviously couldn't see. "You sure babe?" She ignored the butterflies in her stomach from the pet name. "Positive, thank you," she shifted her attention from the road to him. Admiring his features.
She was probably staring too long because he smirked, "You're staring," he said. "I'm gazing," she said giggling. Callum's smile grew after hearing her, it was almost like something clicked in his head, like he had just confirmed something. "It's rude," he said rolling his eyes, "It's romantic," she blurted out, but before she could reflect on it he grabbed her hand and gave her fingertips a kiss.
"Whatever you say."
After another two hours, they stopped at a gas station. After filling up the tank, Callum parked outside the convenience store and went inside to grab something to eat. Winona insisted she didn't want anything, and eventually, after a while of asking, Callum gave up and left. Winona sighed and went to the back seats to take off her mask. The strings were starting to make her ears ache and she needed a break from it. She decided to pull out her phone, which she had pretended to have forgotten at home because she obviously didn't have the same coloured phone as her sister. She began scrolling through Pinterest looking through her Loki board and laughing at the memes she had saved there.
She was so engrossed in her phone that she didn't even hear Callum come back. He sat down and looked back when he heard her giggles. He smirked seeing her without her mask. He turned back pretending not to see her. "So I know you said you didn't want anything," she jumped after hearing his voice and put her mask and sunglasses back on, leaning forward and sitting back into her seat in the front. "But I grabbed you some SmartFood because I remember someone mentioning that you liked it."
Winona scrunched her eyebrows at her, Wren hated SmartFood, she always thought it was way too cheesy. "Oh...thank you so much," she said opening the bag as he turned the car on again. "Oh Winona before I forget," without thinking, she turned towards him after hearing her name.
"Yes?" She didn't realize her mistake until he smirked at her. Her eyes widening before she stammered trying to find an excuse, "No point in explaining Win, just take off your mask and those stupid glasses so I can see your face clearly," he smiled tilting his head to the side cutely. Her heart stuttered from the look alone and she pulled off her disguise in shame.
"Ah, much better hmm?" He laughed looking at her lovingly, she broke the elongated eye contact and began to speak, "Are you gonna snitch?" She asked looking down and wringing her hands, "Nope, after all it makes sense that my real wife come with me on my honeymoon right?"
She rolled her eyes at him but smiled. "Still going on with that nonsense huh?" She smirked at him and it took him off guard for a second before he regained his composure and leaned in towards her. "Who said it's nonsense?" She could feel his warm breath on her face as his lips brushed against hers. He placed a gentle hand on her cheek and tilted his head slightly, it took everything in her not to lean into his touch and kiss him.
She cleared her throat and took a deep breath. "L-Let's keep moving so we can get there before sunset hmm?" She looked at him expectanly, and after a few seconds of staring at her with a smirk, he turned back with a sigh and put the car in reverse.
He placed his right hand on the back of her seat, and turned back with his left hand on the steering wheel, reversing out of the parking spot. Winona cheeks dusted a light pink as she turned to look out her window.
Then, they were back on the road.
