Wow, I though I was the only one. Ember though to her self as she walked down the school halls with the new students next to her. Scarlet whispers something to Leo as they look around like they are looking for something. Ember let out a breath then said "looks like we all have next period together." All three of their heads looked over at Ember. She looked at them and asked "Have you three ever been to school before?" Leo then looked away from Scarlet and looked at Ember and said "All three of us were home schooled."
Ember looked at all of them, Malcolm trying not to make eye contact fixing his light brow hair that would not go to the side that he wanted. Scarlet looking forward as she walked. Leo, Just staring at Ember, his blue eyes studying her like he was looking for something. Trying to figure her out. Ember looked at him for a second, kinda getting creeped out as she looked away saying "You and Scarlet are twins right?"
Scarlet answered before Leo could saying "Yeah, Leo is older by two minuets, and Malcolm is a close friend." Ember look at her, Scarlet's gaze on Malcolm, her eyes saying she wanted to be more then friends. Her glow was showing that as well. She shook her head looking back at Ember. Her hair much like Leos but her face more feminine. Ember smiled softly and said "Lets head to class."
The bell rang as all four walked into class. Students were already sitting in there seats. Mr. Stone was in his big black swivel chair surveying the class. A big guy, big chest, big arms, and a big heart. He's tall with a red bushy mustache and beard. Even though he is the football coach of the school, he is pretty nice. He looked over at all four of us with kind eyes and smiled a soft smile "New students?"
Ember nodded and smiled, walking to her desk in the back of the room. Mr. Stone turned to the other three, " You may sit where ever you like, But before you do give me your names please." All three nodded and walked over telling him their names and walked to the back of the room. Scarlet sat on the left side of Ember and Malcolm on the right. Leo looked at the rest of the row. All the other seats were taken. Then he looked at Ember and sat behind her. Mr. Stone, their history teacher, stood up out of his chair and stared to teach the class about the cold war.
The first half of class was boring like always. It was always blah, blah, this and blah, blah, that. Then something caught Ember's attention. It was soft whispers coming from behind her. She glanced over to her left and noticed that Scarlet was not in her seat. She then looked to her right. Malcolm was asleep, figures. She then heard the whispering again. This time she listens closely.
"Don't you think its strange, that these imperfect mortals fight each other over land? Can't they talk to one other to solve these issue? " Scarlet whispered.
"You know we fight too, but the mortals don't know what a true war is all about." Leo replied in a soft whisper.
"I know that Leo, but they're just clueless."
"Don't worry, we won't be staying long. We just have to find what we were sent here to collect and take it back home to defeat him."
Him? Who's him? What is this thing they are looking for? What are they talking about, imperfect mortals?! Ember thought as she stared at her desk confused. Mr. Stone looked at the back at the two whispering. "Hey you two, is there something you want to share with the class?" Leo and Scarlet looked over at him. "No sir, sorry it won't happen again." Leo said. Mr. Stone nodded "Okay Scarlet go back to your seat." Scarlet stood up and walked back to the seat next to Ember. Ember glanced over at her as she was looking at her desk. Her glow had changed. She looked frightened ,buy why?Mr. Stone kept teaching as the class stayed quite. Scarlet not looking up, Malcolm staying asleep and Leo just staring out the window, out to the California Red woods.
The rest of class went by fast. The end of class bell rang. Ember picked up her bag and walked out into the hall with all the students pushing and shoving. Scarlet walked out first, her head down. Leo and Malcolm walked out talking to each other. Ember looked at Scarlet. "Are you okay?" Scarlet looked up at her and smiled a small smile and said, " Yeah sorry I just have a lot on my mind."
"What classes do we have next?" Asked Leo looking at Ember again.
"Let me see your schedules."
They all pulled out their papers that had their classes on them and handed them to Ember. She looked at the papers and said, "Malcolm and Scarlet have the same class, art. It's at the back of the school, room 120. Leo you are in P.E. class on the other side of the school." All three nodded at the same time, Then Leo spoke up and said, " Where are you going?" Ember smiled. " My favorite class! I am a librarian aide." Leo smiled and nodded. "We'll see you after class."
Ember nodded waving while walking away from the three. Walking down the halls was like trying to fight a bunch of hungry bears fighting over food. Ember pushed her way though the crowed halls and finally made it to the doors of the library. She opened the doors to see the smile of the old man who was the librarian. "Hello Ember." Ember smiled. "Hello Phil, how are you doing today?"
"Ah still kicking"
"Good, are there a lot of books today that need putting away?"
Phil nodded and sat down at his seat reading "War and Peace" by Tolstoy. Ember smiled to her self walking to the cart and started putting books away. This was her alone time. She could be by her self, away from the annoying people attending the school. She walked to the back room where the books that need to stay at the school are kept. Ember picked up a book and the lights in the main room went out.
Ember tuned around fast. "Phil, are you okay?" She said slowly walking out of the back room. The lights came back on and she saw Phil on the ground by the desk not moving. She panicked and ran over and felt for a pulse. Good he's alive! Ember sighed in relief, then stood up. Then something rustled across the floor in the back of the library. Ember jumped and grabbed a stapler. She slowly walked out from behind the desk. Her heart was beating in her ears. She could sense something behind her. She started breathing hard and slowly turned around.
Ember lost her breath as a tall black figure stood in front of her. You could hardly see its face. Its arms were long and skinny almost like bones. Ember gripped the stapler, walking backwards tripping over a table and fell back. Not wanting to get eaten today she hurried and got to her feet running to the door, grabbing the handle and pulling on it as hard as she could. Its locked it wouldn't budge. She hurried and turned to the thing. It was in front of her. It pulled out a sword, dark like a shadow and swung at her. She dodged to the side, only grazing her cheek she could feel the pain strongly on her face. She turned and stapled the creatures arm with her weapon.
The creature screamed, a horrid scream and Ember covered her ears running under the creature to the back of the library, turning to face it. It was mad! The creature tuned to her fast holding the sword up slowly walking toward her. Ember stepped back pressing her body against the wall breathing hard. Praying for some one to help.
