TW: swearing,
3,545 wordsMy body moved side to side. My shoulder casually colliding with Evalina's as the carriage went over the rocky road to the castle. The carriage went over a large bump and I flew in the air. I let out a screech as I hit the hard ceiling.
I straightened myself up while rubbing the top of my head. "You got to be fucking kidding me... the damn carriage ruined my hair!" I let out an ugh, then I adjusted my seating so I was comfortable on the brown cushioned seats.
"You're fine..." Evalina spoke while rolling her eyes.
"I am not... in fact fine! This dumb, piece of shit just decided it's going to ruin my hair! I have a prince to impress, this isn't going well already." I sighed and lay my aching head against the window of the carriage.
"You will be fine!" She turned her body towards me. "You still look hot! All you have to do is just comb your hair back down, it's not that big of a deal..." Evalina lay back against the carriage while humming to herself.
I picked my head up and started combing my hair with my fingers. Maybe I was making a big deal... maybe I am nervous? That can't be... he's just a prince- more like a boy- who I need to fool into loving me, there was nothing nerve racking about that. I guess we could also get caught if our plan fails, but that couldn't happen... because we always get what we want.
The carriage stopped abruptly, and instead of flying up this time I flew forward. I felt my face mush into the cushioning on the other side, and the rest of my body lay on the dirty floor of the carriage. I lay in a heap as I removed my face from the seat to glare at Evalina.
"I hate everything."
Evalina looked down upon me before finally helping me back up. "You don't hate everything. You just don't like this situation..."
"Exactly!" I yelled. "This situation is everything! This situation determines the rest of our lives! Either in death or... with our sisters... if they're alive..." I felt tears start to form in my eyes, but I couldn't let Evalina see them... I know how she would react to a simple sign of weakness.
"Of course they are alive... and we are going to save them, and live happily ever after, together for the rest of our lives!" Evalina exclaimed.
"But what if it ends badly..." I returned.
"Yeah... what if... let's not focus on what bad things could happen, but what good things could happen." Evalina stared me down sternly.
"Yeah... I guess." I took a deep breath and forced myself to calm down. I was just making a big deal, I didn't need to worry about the future... I just needed to worry about the present.

I brushed off my dress as we walked towards the castle gates. It was large and wooden with tiny squared holes. The castle beyond the open gates, were a grey stone that broke into small rectangles. The gates were opened because tonight was the ball where everyone was welcome, but the Lords, Ladies(us), Marquesses, Dukes, and Earls could stay in the castle if they chose to.We stood behind tons of people in various kinds of dresses and suits. Many were embroidered and there were many colors that differed from the rest.
I jumped slightly so I could see what was going on in front of me. The people that stood before me were extremely tall. I couldn't even jump over them to see.
I sighed and tapped on a man's tailored suited shoulder. "Excuse me, but I can't see... could you move over a bit?"
The man looked down upon me with a dirty look on his face, "That's not my problem." Then he turned back around, not saying another word.
