'No. No, no, no, HEEEEET!' she shouted, as a luminous green figure rose up in front of her. Eyes still blurry, she looked up at him.
His face and body was covered with long strands of green hair which seemed to be glowing in the moonlight.
He reached into what seemed like his pocket and brought out -- a pair of dice.
'Let's end this once and for all,' he growled in a low voice barely louder than a whisper.
Heart drumming, the girl stepped back, tripping on a root and collapsing.
She tried to break free, but her ankle was embedded in a firm root. She shrank back as the figure took slow steps toward her.
'It's your fault. This is all your fault. Don't look like you don't know this.' he whispered, crouching down to sit next to her.
She took gulping breaths, trying to calm herself, to get out of this mess she'd gotten herself into -- but the green creature got there first.
