our last conversation had ended up in me resigning and i didn't plan on going back but i had promised him i would be there for this meeting and i knew i was already wrong for being late , i had watched the stares i received as i walked through the office. i wasn't surprised , things between Mateo and i had somehow always been out in the open and he made it known he didn't want any men around me , but that's why I was quitting. I felt it was unfair to the other employees , he had worried so much about my personally life it had been hard to stay away. he was persistent and he stayed persistent but i knew after today i had to do this.
opening the doors all eyes landed on me while mines landed on Mateo , a sly smirk playing on his face as his eyes landed on me. sitting in the chair closest to me i looked at Ms.Remiede as she finished her talk , which rang bullshit in my ear but i promised Darene I would keep my mouth shut so I did drawing little sketches on my note pad till I heard his voice.
"You seem bored Tesoro ? Care to explain." He asks , he knew and he wanted to hear every part of it.
"Amor , I think it's bullshit all due respect. Your children have stopped putting the herbs in the eggs making the eggs taste regular also instead are using more chickens... if you want your company to continue to increase instead of decrease you need to add the herbs like you did before maybe even coming out with more than just fucking eggs. Again no due respect but what if you had a garden where you sold all types of organic produce ! You would get more income because you'd be serving more although you'd be spending money in the beginning , eventually your money will be 6x what you put in to get it." I say my eyes widening not realizing how bold I had just become but seeing a smile okay on Mateo and Ms.Remiede's face I began to calm down a bit.
"So this is the one Mateo ? The one who made this whole thing happen ?" She says smirking.
"Yes Auntie , This is Liyah. She's an amazing employee , very smart , very creative .. and we don't want to lose her." He says looking at me as I smile small.
"Then that's it. She's the leader on the campaign what she says you do , no ifs ands or buts. I want to see you too at the address I send at 7 o clock! I will see you all soon!" She says getting up as Mateo helped her and I sat there in shock.
I watched everyone rush out as I stayed back , slowly gathering my things I didn't know what to do. It was like they had all worked together without knowing it to keep me near him , I was running from him. i was so scared of getting hurt , i felt like once a man like him had you he would leave. i hadn't realized i had just been standing there until i felt a hand at the small of my back and his voice speak.
"Everything will be about work. I will leave you alone , just please don't resign." He says making me turn around and take a step back so he wasn't touching me , although i really wanted him too.
"I will stay because I need the money Mr.Mateo." I say trying not to look at him.
"I have a car coming for you at 7." He says walking out , the rest of the day had been me trying to straighten things out. it had felt like they had no organization the last few days and it was affecting me , the driver had came up a few minutes ago but i liked making him wait.
as we arrived i seen Mr.Mateo and Ms.Remiede talking by the doors , this place was beautiful although it needed work. stepping out of the car I could feel their eyes on me as I made my way to them.
"Liyah! Thank you for coming , this place is for you and Mateo to fix up and make it how you see fit." I will be back in three hours to see what you guys have come up with so far." She says making me nod.
Mateo's hand made it's way to small of my back directing me into the building as we took a look around , i could tell he wanted to say something but he was holding back. as we made our way fully in i decided to take off my sweater to start pulling things down , I could feel his eyes on me but I didn't mind his eyes always felt good on me.
"what do you think ?" He asks as I turn and face him.
"It's beautiful , I have an idea but we would need to clean everything first." I say truthfully.
"Whatever you want." He says sighing.
"Mateo , i- never mind." I say sighing and trying to walk past him but epically fail as his hand takes hold of my arm pulling me to him , our faces just a breath away.
"Your always running from me. Stop running." He says , I couldn't help but close my eyes and take his scent in. "Why do you keep running from me ?" He asks sighing.
"Because i love you , maybe more than I love myself but I can't stop falling for you. I need to stop , but I can't." I say sighing and opening my eyes to see his already locked on mine.
"Do what you feel , I won't stop you but no more running Tesoro." He says , I knew what I felt so taking his advice my lips instantly connected to his , his hands roamed my whole body as mine tugged on his hair. This had been something we had both longed for , it had been over a month since our lips had touched and everything we had missed out on or wanted from eachother had been released in this kiss.
"No more running." I said placing my forehead on his. "Promise you won't leave." I say sighing.
"That's why you keep running. I've been chasing you , although I have you I won't stop. I'm not going anywhere unless your with me Tesoro." He says in reassurance.
"What now?" I say looking at him.
"We can take things as slow as you want , just promise me you won't run or hide from me anymore. That's all I ask , and you can have anything your heart desires." He says.
"Okay , I promise Amor." I say smiling once I realized the big sly smile playing on his face.
"Okay." He says softly connecting our lips again , it had felt like it had taken forever for us to get to this moment but i was happy we were here. Hearing the door open I hadn't realized the three hours had past , Ms.Remiede had a sly smirk playing on her face as well as if she had made us stay in here this long to figure our problems out , Which I didn't put past her as she was Mateos Great Aunt.
"I take it you two will do just fine with the place , no ?" She asks still smirking.
"Yes Auntie." Mateo says.
"Liyah?" She says waiting for my answer.
"Yes Ms,Remiede , I think your nephew and I work well." I say.
"Then we are all good , you guys can go. I will see you in a week so we can get things officially started." She says hugging Mateo and leaving.
The ride from the building was quiet but peaceful , his hands rubbed circles on my thigh as I looked at him. he was perfect and I wondered how he even wanted someone like me , i wouldn't ask him that because I would hear a lecture but I still wondered.
"Do you want to stay with me tonight ?" He asks looking at me as I send a nod to nervous to talk. "Words Tesoro , I won't bring you with me until I hear it come from your mouth." He says.
"Yes Mateo , i would like to stay with you tonight." I say as a sly smirk is placed on his face again.
"Good." He says , continuing to drive.
we had been at Mateos for about an hour and he had been talking business with Darene , I was starting to get annoyed because it was like she knew I was with him. she always called when I was around which made us never have actual time to be with eachother , I walked outside to where he was and hooked my arms around his torso.
"Darene , it's late. We can touch up in the morning I'm busy." He says sighing , I could tell he had told her that already. "Alright bye." He says sighing again as I watch him shut his phone down fully. "I'm sorry Tesoro." He says turning in my arms and facing me.
"Don't be , duty calls" I say , as he places a kiss on my forehead. This is where I belonged , with him no matter where we were.
