Inspired by the Rick and Morty episode about Beth and Space Beth 😉

"Trish, come on, you can't possibly be into her... can you? It's got to be a joke."

I laughed at my friend. Of course it was a joke. She laughed, too, and then left.

"Trish?" The very girl that we had been laughing about came up to me. "I've been here for a little bit, and I know that you and Bea are like, great friends... I mean, I am you. I also know that you've been living a slightly different life than me."

"Trisha..." I looked up at her. "We can't keep doing this. One of us is the clone of the other, and we, I dunno, like each other, and we can't. It's weird."

She looked defeated. "But Trish... we've both been so happy..."

I turned away from her, feeling the tears coming. "I have to go."

And that's when I broke up with myself.

Trisha and I had been one person, but when we were one person, we had always wanted to do something else, be someone else, anything else than be a normal girl going to school.

So, our very smart friend, who had just left moments before me, made something to clone us. Or me? Not sure.

She made sure that Trisha went and did her own thing, and she did. She had found someone that could help her get to space, and she dealt with aliens and such. Then she came back to Earth and developed relations with space aliens and everyone on Earth.

And then she came back to the school, to see our friends and family, and also... me.

We had started hanging out, talking about how different our lives were. It was actually pretty cool.

But one day... We kissed.

We started a relationship that couldn't last, because we were the same person. It's just weird. It's incest-like. It's... against nature. It really did hurt me, leaving her, but... it wouldn't last, we needed to find someone who we could actually spend the rest of our lives with.

"Trish?" My older brother startled me. "Heh, sorry, but you looked super sad, so I was wondering if Trisha left? She didn't say bye-"

"Uh, no, we just had an argument."

My brother, Tucker, scoffed. "Argument, huh? I didn't know that you listening to break up songs meant an argument happened."

I scowled at him. "It doesn't matter, okay?"

He sighed. "Trish... you know, our parents were excited that you were so happy when Trisha came here, and now you're acting as if..." His eyes widened. "Did you break up with her?"

"SHHHHHHHH!" I shoved my hand onto his mouth, silencing him. "We, me and Trisha, weren't dating in the first place!" I whisper-shouted.

"Mmmier."

"Huh?" I pulled my hand away.

"Liar." He replied. "We all knew you were together, it was pretty evident. Why would you dump her?"

"Because it's not fucking normal, Tucker. It's not a normal thing for someone to have a clone and then fucking fall in love with them."

"Well, it's just loving yourself."

I scoffed and left the room, sick of his annoyingness.

And that's when I saw Trisha. Her eyes were filled with tears. "It's wrong to love me?"

"Trisha-"

She ran away from me, got into her car and drove away. My arm fell to my side. My heart yearned to chase her, hold her to me, and tell her to forget what I had said. But I didn't go after her. I turned away from the door, and instead went to my room.

This would be a good start, freshly away from my clone, and also I was single. Time to try and love someone else. Time to be myself, by myself.

Trisha got onto her ship, about a week after the break up. She waved goodbye to her companions and left to rejoin her friends in space. She didn't need her stupid clone. She was ready to be herself, by herself.
