Izuku Midoriya Loves to Love

In the end, you were just too bright for me

     Humans are fickle creatures. They're held together by sheer coincidence. They struggle against their fate. No matter how  powerful a hero is, they will always fall short in the face of death. Some hero's can become as small as a piece of paper, others can change the weather with a single punch. But, you can't punch death away or escape its cold clutches.

"Midnight!" A voice shouted from the distorted edges of her vision. Quickly after, a mass of pink entered her vision. The social heart of class 3-A Mina Ashido bent down before her. "Oh my god!" She cried out in horror. "Midnight! Stay with me! We can call for help." The girl reached to her ear and activated her communicator "This is Pinky requesting immediate medical attention. We have a hero suffering from life threatening injuries. Huh?! From what I can tell she is suffering from severe internal bleeding among other injuries I can't discern." Ashido checked parts of her body for damage.

Midnight grasped Ashido's wrist as tight as she could. It was becoming more real that she wasn't making out alive. "Mina, you need to get out of here."

Tears fell down onto Midnights cheeks. Ashido couldn't hold her fear in any longer and wiped her tears off of Midnights cheeks. "NO! Don't say that. We're gonna get you out of here Sensei."

"Sensei?" Midnight laughed weakly. "You guys haven't called me that in a while. I'm gonna miss it."

"No No No No. You're gonna hear it again when you get better. We're all gonna be there and laugh about how stupid this was."Mina pleaded with Midnight. She already knew the truth. At this point she was just pleading with herself. Fighting the inevitable truth of Midnights survival.

"I can't feel much of anything below my stomach Mina. I'm not gonna be there with you guys. But this doesn't have to be so sad." Midnight's voice began to become faint and strained as she placated the poor girl. "I wish I could've seen you all grow to become amazing heroes." Finally, she couldn't stop herself. The tears came unabated. They streamed down her face.

"Don't do this to me Midnight!" Mina hugged her teacher probably for the last time. Her teacher tried her best to reciprocate the hug but was failing to get a hold on the girl. Her strength was leaving quicker than she hoped.

Midnight placed her weak hand against the girls tear stained cheek "Hey, we all knew this is what heroes do. We give our lives to protect others. It's just my time." She couldn't hold her hand against her any longer. Mina shaking her head furiously didn't help either.

Mina cried out "I don't want you to be a hero right now! Just be our teacher! Please!" Her words stung like her acid. Midnight choked out a sob.

Midnight tried to stop it but couldn't help the loud cry she released. "Me neither. I don't want to leave you guys. But I know I won't make it."

The girls combined cries attracted the attention of the other girls of the class. One by one they sprinted to the pair. Hagakure, then Jiro, then Tsu, then Yaoyorozu, then Uraraka. Collectively they crowded around their dying teacher. While speaking over each other, they pleaded and cried to her.

Midnight called out weakly "Hey Hey. Girls, come on now. I taught you better than this. Stay focused. This fight isn't over and you all know that crying won't help." The girls all tightened a grip on her body like they were tethering her to her body.

Momo laid a hand on Midnight's bloody shoulder "If that's true Sensei crying won't achieve anything, why are you crying? Shouldn't a teacher provide a good example for her students." Momo's joke didn't land with the girls, but Midnight seemed to appreciate the gesture.

She laughed so lightly it's seemed like a strained breath "You're right. If I can't help crying, how can I expect you guys to do any better. Sorry." Midnight looked around at the cloudy grey sky. Briefly she saw it. A crash of green lightning shot across the sky. "Hey girls, what's going on with Shigaraki."
