Chapter: 2

John and I knew that we couldn't just go to anyone with our discovery. We needed to find the right people, people who would be willing to listen and help us. So, we started by gathering as much evidence as possible. We dug deeper into the early days of the artificial consciousness technology, and the more we found, the more convinced we became that the trapped consciousnesses were real.

We knew that we couldn't keep this to ourselves, so we decided to approach a small group of trusted colleagues. We gathered them together in a private meeting and presented our findings.

"This is incredible," said one of our colleagues, Jane. "But how is this possible? Why has no one discovered this before?"

"That's what we're trying to figure out," I said. "We believe that there must be someone or some group of people who are keeping this a secret."

Another colleague, Michael, spoke up. "But why? What's the point of keeping this a secret?"

"That's what we're trying to find out," John said. "But one thing is clear, we can't just sit back and do nothing. We have to do something to help these trapped consciousnesses."

The group was silent for a moment, then Jane spoke up. "I'm in," she said. "We have to do something to help them."

One by one, the others in the group also agreed to help. We knew that we were in for a difficult fight, but we were determined to do what was right.

We started by trying to bring our discovery to the attention of the authorities. We presented our evidence to government officials and scientists, but we were met with skepticism and resistance. Many of them refused to believe that something like this could be happening, and others were more concerned with maintaining the status quo.

But we didn't give up. We continued to gather evidence and make our case to anyone who would listen. We also began to explore ways to free the trapped consciousnesses. We knew that it wouldn't be easy, but we were determined to do whatever it takes.
