Prologue
The sounds of chains rolling and tweaking brought back horrible memories of your days in Inazuma. Even the crackling of torches raked your skin with rough goosebumps. Grunts. Groans. Chatter. Chaos. For the first time in a long time, you felt the warm wind of a Liyuen breeze riding up your legs and flowing through your dress. Though you weren't blindfolded, your vision was skewed by the drapes that covered your rectangular prison cell.
"Behold, the Blue Oni that's been tormenting the soldiers in the Chasm!"
A hostile hiss shot out of you when the white curtains were suddenly pulled off of you, the sun casting its unforgiving rays on your wreathing body. When your hands latched onto the cold metal bars, they barely moved an inch after attempting to pry open your confinement. Finding yourself trapped inside a cage angered you more than it frightened you. Immediately, you shut your eyes and crumbled in pain from the unexpected change of air and atmospheric pressure.
"Disgusting..." A voice groaned.
"What should we do...?" Another echoed.
"Look at those horns..." One of them stuttered.
"Should we kill her...?" There were whispers stirring through the group.
"No."
Hearing that simple 'no' just sent a hot shudder down your spine. You couldn't tell whose voice belonged to which man but you noticed how the surrounding Fatui soldiers fell silent and parted ways into separate sides. Your eyes widen the slightest when you realized you were the center of everyone's attention, including the mysterious masked man who was making his way toward you.
A hand was raised which silenced all the agents, "Enough gawking, I will take the girl. I'm still very curious about this creature's abilities. Perhaps she could be weaponized?"
"We don't know that, my Lord." A soldier warned.
To which the warning was shot down, "I'll have to conduct more experiments."
Seeing the masked man before you, you couldn't help but gawk at how confident his stride was. Even in the face of unknown danger, this authoritative figure even grinned when he saw the killer look in your eyes. You've always hated those who arrogantly believed they were untouchable.
"This is the first time I've ever laid eyes on an Oni. Usually, these creatures are native to Inazuma and are hidden from humanity... How strange that she was hiding in the Chasm instead..." He walked around the cage with his arms behind his back. "What's your name? If you have one."
"Come closer, I'll tell you."
The man complied and kneeled down to your height. As soon as he was situated in front of you, he flashed you a chilling grin. Normally, you would laugh at any attempt of someone even attempting to intimidate you, however, seeing his sheepish smirk enraged you. Out of nowhere, you lunged at him and reached for his face with a sharp hand in an attempt to knock down his mask. He automatically stepped back, amused by your reactions.
The surrounding Fatui soldiers were startled by your sudden attack, hands ready on their weapons and aimed at your cage. Surprisingly, the Harbinger raised his hand once again to stop the soldiers from advancing any further.
But who could blame them for being so on edge around you? Earlier today, these Fatui soldiers had caught you feasting on the blood of a poor Fatui Agent, your white lace clothing was drenched with red... and your eyes glowed a petrifying blue.
The sight of you bloodied and licking your fingers had definitely burned into their memories, forever haunting them. A living nightmare, one would describe.
