The Ones They Call Mom And Dad

“Oh Honey.. She's so adorable. He's going to be such a great big brother.. what do you think?” A woman's voice spoke. Then soon a man's did as well. “We'll have to wait and see, my dear.. for now, let's let her rest.. she must've had a hard day after we got her from the lab.” He spoke softly. Who are they, you may ask? Well, non other than the Sergeant and his Lieutenant. Miles and Anne.
The next day, all that was heard was, “Oh oh! Miles! She's opening her eyes!” Anne yelled for her boyfriend as she held her newborn daughter. Miles came running over and looked at his daughter. “Oh my goodness.. she has my eyes..” Miles mumbled as he put a paw to his daughter's cheek, a little squeak coming from the baby. “Our little Po.. I can't wait to show Dipsy his new sister. He'll be so excited to be a big brother, don't you think, Miles?” Anne asked as Miles nodded with his arms crossed.
“She'll be a fine soldier one day.” He joked and Anne gasped, acting offended as Miles laughed a bit, expecting that reaction. “I'm teasing, my love.. I'll go get Dipsy.” He said as he walked away to Dipsy's playroom, seeing his son playing with some blocks. Miles leaned against the doorframe, watching him play made him relaxed since he enjoyed watching his loved ones calm and happy. Miles soon tapped the wall to get Dipsy's attention, his son turning his attention to his father. Miles walked up to Dipsy and picked him up. “Hey little guy, ready to meet someone new?” He asked then Dipsy nodded, smiling brightly at his father.
Miles soon walked back to Anne and Po in the nursery. Dipsy tilted his head, wondering who his mother was holding. He blinked curiously before Anne turned around with a blanket that looked to be wrapping something. “Hello Dipsy! Ready to meet your baby sister?” Anne asked happily and Dipsy nodded rapidly. Anne then moved the blanket a bit, revealing the little baby who had a circle antenna instead of a straight one like Dipsy or Miles. Dipsy looked at Po curiously before he gently patted her face, a small whine leaving the baby and Anne shook her head, tapping Dipsy's hand to get to away from Po's face. Po soon calmed down, opening her brown eyes and looking around at her family. Miles smiled at his daughter, gently moving some of her fur out of her face so she could see better. Po wiggled a bit in her swaddle, and Anne loosened it bit as she hummed a gentle song to her daughter. Miles sat down in a rocking chair with Dipsy still in his arms as Anne slowly walked around the room while rocking Po and singing her lullaby. Soon, Dipsy, Po, and Miles were all asleep. Anne smiled gently at her little family asleep, before she laid Po down in her cradle, then she went to pick Dipsy up from Miles and took him to his room as well. Miles felt the small weight get taken off his chest and he woke up, getting up slowly as he walked to Dipsy's room, and slowly creeped behind Anne, then he put his paws on her hips.
“You're a great mother, Anne.. Now I know why I chose you to be my girlfriend.. not just for my love for you, but because I knew you'd be a perfect mother to my little ones. I love you so much, Anne.” He whispered as he rested his forehead on the back of her neck. He never got this sentimental unless it was with her, he adored her company so much. It made him feel so safe. He didn't need to be on guard all the time with her, she made him feel comfortable and cared for. Anne smiled a bit as she turned around, putting her paws on his cheeks and staring into his eyes, and she kissed him gently, then pulled away. “I love you too, Miles. You're a wonderful father.. I'm so glad to have a family with you.” She said softly as she tilted her head to the side. She never imagined that she'd get with the Sergeant of the military, it felt like a dream. She had pinched herself once before to prove it was a dream but it wasn't. But she could never be happier. Miles was great to her. He made her feel welcomed, safe, and loved. She was lost in her thoughts for a bit before she gasped, having felt Miles pick her up by her hips and she giggled afterwards. Miles chuckled a bit, carrying her to their bedroom, then putting her down on it. He climbed into the bed next to her and pulled her into his chest, before laying down and rubbing her back. “Lets take a nap while the tots do. It's been a while since we shared a moment like this, Anne. Let me enjoy it with you.” He said calmly as Anne nodded, closing her eyes as she smiled, before she dozed off to sleep.

Oh how a series of unfortunate events happen.. it's a shame, isn't it?

During their nap, a lab assistant snuck into both the kid rooms and picked up Po, then went for Dipsy next.. without Miles or Anne even waking up.

Such a shame.. All that work for it just to be stolen and never seen again..
