TWO GRUESOME WEEKS HAD PASSED, but it only seemed like forever to Riku Akiyama who was now cramming her lessons for her college entrance exam that was taking place in a few days.
Oh, and their second-term midterm exams just took place this afternoon, too.
Even when her brain was more exhausted now than ever, her fingers stung as they were wrapped up in white bandages from all the splinters and scratch wounds her hands suffered from all the carpenter work she and her classmates did over the past 14 days in renovating and rebuilding that old schoolhouse that old mad owned.
As much as Riku wanted to have her own moment of revelation or some spiritual awakening during the whole entire reconstruction project, she had to disappoint due to the fact that her mind was preoccupied with the concerns of falling behind in her studies.
She was glad Nagisa seemed to have some life realization, though. After privately tutoring that Sakura girl for two weeks. The same goes for the rest of her classmates who took this project and its teachings to heart.
Everyone put their souls into this, and it showed in the results of the new school and the principal's reaction that went beyond surprise that Riku was rather impressed the old man did not experience several heart attacks every time he went into shock.
Letting out a tired sigh, Riku turned to her digital clock that stood on her stack of open notebooks.
The time read 01:57 AM.
Riku blinked sleepily.
She had been studying non-stop since 9 PM.
Her back was stiff and her throat felt dehydrated as Riku allowed herself to let out a yawn.
Getting up from her seat, she did not bother turning off her lights before plopping her body on top of her bed covers, easily drifting to sleep. Her thoughts were filled with advanced calculus, Sigmund Freud theories, data analytics, competitor research, and Karma Akabane.

Sugino, Okajima, and Nagisa walked down the hill and onto campus grounds together, heading home with dejected looks plastered on their faces. Making it no secret just how much of a disaster their midterms went.
Their scores plummeted and almost everyone from Class E was kicked out of their top spots from the previous examinations.
"What a letdown."
The three Class E students lifted their heads to see a scenario that wasn't all that unfamiliar to them. Grinning faces that belonged to Class A's big five, expressions filled with so much arrogance and pride that basically towered over Sugino, Okajima, and Nagisa. "Guess that last time was just a fluke, eh?" Araki pointed smugly at them. As if having a higher rank now served as his sole purpose in life to look down on those who scored lower than him, than them.
