Mermaids were creatures of fables and tales. They were those amazingly stunning creatures, with scales that shimmered like stars, Or they were terrifying, teeth so sharp they could cut you in half, luring sailors to their deaths.
Their songs drowned sailors, and their tears turned to gold. They could merge with humans, and yet they couldn't leave the seas.
They were solitary. They lived in pods. They looked monstrous. They were creature of beauty.
The tales went far and wide, they were in every culture's mythology with no concrete proof of their existence until recent years when the body of one was discovered on the shore of Morocco.
