chapter 2: Hole in the wall

She finally let out a sigh as her class had ended. It was troublesome just being around Alex, it gave her chills the way his green eyes followed her every move. It wasn't once but the whole class period, that it felt like he was going to burn a hole through her.

Grabing her stuff from the desk, she made her way out and quickly went into the bathroom. She threw her books on the counter and slapped water on her face. Slowly she looked up to be started, her reflection was no more, but her grandma wrinkled face.

Rayvn let out a little scream in surprise" god I hate it when you do that. A little warning next time please " she cried holding her chest. " Almost gave me a heart attack "

" ah sweetheart, we have a little situation" her grandma said through the mirror. "Please youre only 16, wait until youre 200 then talk to me about heart attacks" her grandmother scuffed.

" situation? What situation" she asked looking around to make sure she was the only one in here. She even bent down to look for legs.

She went silent as a dark expression passed her face " I just got word of a new hunter in town looking for Maywood " grams said with a heavy voice.

Rayvn felt a lump in her throat as she recalled the pin Alex was wearing. " I'll be careful "  she said giving her a nod and ended the mirror call. Rayvn felt sick, she didnt want to believe it " ugggghhhh" she sighed leaving the bathroom.

By the time lunch rolled up she quickly found her friends " hes a hunter! " she whispered just enough of them to hear as she sat down next to Mimi and finn.

" who? " Finn said glancing at her with a yawn and rubbing a hand in his hair.

" grams just mirrored me, telling me a hunter is in town " she held her breath " and Alex is a hunter " she said

" oh! Well heads up, hes coming over here " Mimi said following him with her finger.

Rayvn felt herself stiff up as he approached their table. The air around them was tense, it was hard to breath. Josh let out a small growl before she kicked him to shut it. She shook her head before looking over to the hunter.

" hey " his voice called out. He ran his hand through his caramel color hair and watch her with his green eyes.

Rayvn gave a smile "hello again " she said as he walked passed the table.

Finn let out a small sigh " great now what are we going to do " he thought telepathically.

Josh shot Finn a look " would you quite using a link!, that's a wolf's thing not warlock" he shot back.

She shook her head at them " technical it's a night creatures thing, but yes wolf use a link while we use items, whatever that's not the point now  " she was cut off

" whoa were using the link! Sweet, by the way rayvn your looking cute" Eric chimed in wiggling his dark brows at her from across the cafeteria.

Rayvn felt her face heat up " nows not the time for flattery. Alex is a hunter, looking for a maywood" she glanced over towards Finn

" hold the phone, maywood? " Brittany sat down

" Raven you don't think..."Finn thought

"Its is " she said aloud.

Rayvn  watched everyone's face as their eyes widen, " he's here for me " she thought.

By the time school was out, she was putting her books back into the locker. "Rayvn were meeting at your grams shop?" Mimi thought over the link.

" uh yeah that was the plan" she thought, shut her locker. She turned and made her way to the parking lot.

" little bird where are you flying to? " Eric called out from his car.

" oh you know around on my little broom " she joked. " I'll see you at the shop " she waved him by.

Again she cursed the hunters, as she walked to the shop. Rayvn took the "shortcut" through the woods. The normies didn't come through this area in fear of horror tales her family spread. Monster in the night, serial killers living in the woods, it changes every couple decades. Anything in trend that the human where scared of.

After walking for a while Rayvn came upon an old shack. The build was leaning to one side, there where broken windowns. Missing boards, and almost covered in ivy and plants. She follwed the little stone path to the door and looked around before givibg the door three small kocks. The door slowly open, leting a gust of air rush out towards her. She grabbed her bag and walked into the dark entrance. It was a witches door, a lost magic to new magical folk. It was told a witches door could connect to any realm or place. Use by the great witches to escape from hunters alikes. But such knowledge has been lost, only a few remember the spell.

As soon as she stepped through, the door slammed behind her and with another gust of wind the corridor lit up with candles on the wall. Above was nothing but a black void and something a pair of large red eyes. "Welcome home " a creature like voice whispered out.

Rayvn looked up into the void to meet a pair of eyes "Good day lavender " she called out to the beast that guarded the door. She had never seen the body of the creature, only its large watchful eyes. Rayvn made her way down the hall to the end. She grab the door knob and went through. " guys have you feed lavender lately? " she called out from the back room

" welcome home rayvn " her grandmother called from the counter. " yes sir three of toads to cure that cold " she heard her grandmother say.

" I feed him last full moon " aunt Lotty  called out.

Rayvn looked around for lotty before setting her stuff down " oh, alright "she peeked her head out from the door way " if they come im in the back room " she told her grandma

"Alright dear " she said back.
