"please check for unattended belongings and exit the train safely. you have now arrived at Parvati station" (imagine this in Hindi)
As I take foot into Jaipur, my eyes roam around everywhere and there are people rushing here and there. It was day one of Navaratri, so everyone was at the Parvathi temple to seek blessings and enjoy the decorations and performances. One voice stood out to me. It was so beautiful and my eyes were searching for the owner but I couldn't find where it was coming from. The voice was now louder and I was searching for Her.
The girl singing. It was so angelic and My eyes were scanning every inch of the place but no I couldn't find her. I then rushed towards the front of the temple and I could see a crowd gathered around. there were flower petals being tossed in the air and nothing else was in my mind. I just wanted to see her. People were clapping and cheering and I walked towards the temple and there she was. She was in the middle dancing and singing. She was gorgeous. My heart was racing and My body felt weird. there was this tingling sensation and I couldn't take my eyes off her. She was wearing a white lehenga, with a light pink shawl. She was the center of attention and my eyes were fixated on her. Parallelly, a local drama troop was performing the story of Ram and Sita. The girl's eyes were mesmerizing, they were a deep brown and there was a pinch of innocence to them. I stood outside the temple and watched her from afar. The girls around her were there but they didn't have the same magic as the girl in middle. Her Jimmiki was dancing with her. Everything about her was perfect. She was perfect. Her voice expressed soo much love. Even the fire on the lamps danced with her. No poetry could describe her. Then for a second, just a second our eyes met and I wished that second would never end, I wished that she would be mine. She was a princess in my eyes. Her dancing was so graceful, even the angles and goddesses above would be jealous of her. her hair flew in the direction of the wind and her dove-shaped eyes could even hypnotize an animal. Lastly, her smile. Her smile would even make the sun and moon envious of her. Suddenly, I was ready to do anything for her. I was ready to go to the moon and back just to see her smile like that again, just to see her dance and sing like that again. The small river between me and the temple even displayed her reflection. I wanted to run to her and look into her eyes closely. She was a piece of art.
The song ended and everyone was clapping, the other girls rushed out through the front and my heart longed for her to come out through the back gate, and just like that she came towards me. The chants started from the back and rose petals were in the air. I went closer to her and we both walked toward each other. I looked directly and her but she avoided my gaze and I smiled. Fireworks were decorating the sky, and so were the rose petals. The chants got louder as we got closer and closer to each other. I stood at the end of the stairs and she was on the top step.
I stared into her eyes and for once she looked back at me and I caught her eyes. she walked down the stairs slowly and when she was just one step in front of me, I whispered in her ear
"Un Vizhigalin Oram En Uruvam Therinthathu Aanal Adhai Nee Kandikavilai yean?"
(A corner of your eyes saw my image but you ignored it why?)
"kandikrathuku ennaku nee modhala yaarnu theriyanum"
(to not ignore you, I need to know who you are first)
"Ishaan"
she smiled and responded
"Alankriti"
She tried to run away but I Held her wrist and brought her closer to me
"Ni ena vittu oda muyarchi pannade, unnala mudiyathu, nee innum ennoda nerukama than ava" (Dont try to run away from me, you won't be able to, you will just end up getting closer to me)
"kai vidunga" (let go off my hand)
"mudiyathu" (I won't)
"yean?" (Why?)
"nee ennkoda eppome irrukanom thonathu yean? en idhayam nee than venum n solludhu yean?" (Why do i want you to be with with me forever? why does my heart long for you?)
"yean n enna ketta? " (how am I supposed to know )
she pushed me aside and ran away smiling. I saw her run into the crowd and my mind was continuously repeating the name. "Alankriti". She had a beautiful name. She was beautiful and damn I knew I was falling for her. but who couldn't? She was magic.
